Yes, "blatant" I read all that and it all seemed to be "it" to me, too. That is, until the Hitler picture came up... And I think they said on Formspring that Belle has not suffered any abuse. That is the only thing not working here. But then again, it wouldn't be the first half-truth they give us: either of the two versions, Belle Selman or the Bavarian girl, both imply that she was in fact German / Romanian and only got her American citizenship later. They just say "She's American".

I looked for photos of Belle Selman on Google Images but nothing came up.

Also... let's not forget that "Belle" si just a symbol of something. So once we decide who Belle was, we have to figure out what they're protesting for / against here and what the connections are between that subject and all the other notes than people have been cracking: the iron maiden, the weird device, stoning, stars etc.

My guess is STILL that they're trying to say that nobody has the right to judge someone else, because nobody has a completely innocent heart. Now it's only a matter of how they decide to put that into a metaphor.

By the way... if anyone finds anything on this woman that happens to be in Romanian, I can provide a decent translation for you guys So far I've only been able to find general facts about the Jews in Oradea but nothing about particular cases, such as Selman's family.

Also... don't forget that in the earlier Formspring question, the guys at 8-3-11 said something like "she used to be called Belle when she was young" - not with those exact words, of course, but that's what I got from it.

It might be that "Belle" is the short version of her name or even just a nickname; so maybe searching for "Belle Selman" will not be as productive as we thought.

Women's Day is on March 8, not on August 3.
