Unfortunately, after much research, I am leaning heavily towards this being a social experiment. The case for it so far seems stronger than for any other theory. Lets look at why.

1) The "application"- This was the first thing that got me suspicious. They have an application to join their cause, "help", and said they've filled out on accepted people. Strange. I have been to probably most of the boards/blogs discussing 8-3-11 and have yet to see people (there was only 1 I saw but confirmed to be a troll) saying they were accepted. I find it impossible to believe that not a single person among those accepted would go to forums/discussions and spoil it/give their insiders view and bask in the fame. Being that this is an online thing and everyone is annonymous and they have no relationship with the creators, there would be little to no incentive for every one of them to keep these secrets. Even if they don't reveal much or anything to the people accepted, I am sure some would at least brag about being accepted or share a general idea of what they said in the application that got them accepted as that would be a major clue. Basically, I don't think they've "accepted" anyone and don't intend to.

Theres even a formspring answer "There is a member from a forum that is saying you were accept him for 8𠖥1. Is that right? I think not.

He's lying."
Now look at this, the question was vague and did not say which forum it was, yet they knew he was a liar, how? How would they know that one of the accepted didn't go to a forum and say they were accepted, they can't control what these people would be doing at home on the internet. The only way they would know hes a liar, without even knowing which forum is being spoken of is if ANYONE claiming to be accepted ANYWHERE would be a liar because they didn't actually "accept" anyone.

So to me this mean the application is probably part of the experiment, part of the data collection. They could be interested in the wide range of theories people can come up with from random "evidence" and how those theories spread, how many coincidences/connections can be found from a given word or who know what else. The question asking how they found out about 3/8/11 seems to be another tipoff in this direction, a classic question for a researcher to ask in an experiment like this.

2) Too many damn clues- Cab, Bacteria, Cles, Roof, Rasalhauge, Ophiuchus, oero, Condone, Hiel, Dynamic, Mailbox, Youth, I Fell Down, 115, Michigan, Burnings, 18000, 36000, 175000, Nested, tier 1/2, Several, Repair, Rococo, Sucu(lant), Tax, Eye, Law, Federalist sympathies, Tounce, Tair Vende, Sell, Volley, Penn, Belle, Altair, 8311, all born 11-11 (lol basically impossible), 8611, 264, skin disease, Germany, chicago, texas, conet project, retraction, dont drink coffee, NATO, bagels, bob dylan, copyfight, BrutalityUnnec, stone throwing, 1984, 1928, 1934, Alphekka, Sam, Cassiopeia, 38.451%, umbrella, etc...

You see what I'm saying here? These are all "clues" they have given out, theres just way too many of them to make any sense of. Theres no way these can all be connected. Following any one of them or combo of them with google searches or what not leads you on completely different paths, theres limitless different theories you can come up with based on which words you focus on and they give ZERO indication which words we should be focusing on. Either they are the WORST damn puzzle helpers of all time, or they are basically just throwing tons of different things out there just to see what we come up with, for their experiment.

The more random "clues" they give out, the more impossible the search becomes. Clues should be related and lead you along a certain path, these do not do that at all, they open up infinite completely different paths to follow. Either they have to give some way to tie all these ridiculously different random clues together or tell us very specifically which ones to focus on or this is just an unsolveable mess, and probably meant to be so.

Theres more reasons but this post is long and I think you get the idea. To me it seems like this may be an experiment (or even just a game for their amusement) and we are the subjects and some people are going to be pissed off on 8/3/11 lol. Either that or they just are new to this and really, really bad at painting a coherent picture with related clues. Of course, I hope I'm wrong, and theres something cool being announced on 8/3/11, but I find it hard to believe theyd drag us through this whole convoluted game if they actually had something urgent to say.

Basically you elaborated on where I was going as well. You collected way more clues than I was willing to allow myself. I allotted myself a certain amount of time to collect data from them and drew a line in the sand. It could very well be a data collection experiment based on saturated unrelated clues. The experiment targets the "Conspiracy Theory" community. How we can virtual take completely unrelated vague data and tie it into something else. I am a conspiracy theory enthusiast but I base everything on convincing data. We've all been had. Thesis' are due August 3rd 2011. The 3 or 4 person group plus a dog or cat named Sam has used all of you as guinea pigs.

Or maybe it's a conspiracy theory designed to collect information about how many people will actually keep trying to figure it out and how many will dismiss it as a wild goose chase. Haha

Seriously though, I know that it's already obvious the Conet Project had a connection in the mp3's, and there was significance in the Foxtrot, Yankee that can be heard. I know the connection was pretty much dismissed after that. However when I was reading the wikipedia page for The Conet Project, I noticed they mention that Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy ran into legal troubles because he did not seek permission to use a Conet Project sample in their album: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Evidently this sparked debate over who actually owns the copyrights to numbers stations broadcasts. The Copyfight thing would point it to having something to do with Copyright laws and whatnot.

I know this is a little far-fetched and also apologize if it was already brought up, but perhaps there is significance or at least something else to think about.

I also read this, and it now makes much more sense, however I also read that it mentioned 8-3-11 using one of their tunes on their website?

Okay, so I've just read the whole thread and all the formspring questions. I just started on this thing yesterday and I've been pretty much obsessed since.

I always try to keep an open mind to things, and I haven't really bought any of the theories so far. They have good basis and they make sense, but.. I don't know.

What bothers me most about this is that I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. You can't really look for an answer without a definite question. The questions on the application page are:

"What do you think 8𠖥1 is about?
Why would you like to get involved in 8𠖥1?
What can you do to help spread the word about 8𠖥1?
How did you find this site?
What is your general location?"

What is it all about? Social conflict? Acceptance? Conspiracy theories? Since this is the first question they ask it makes me think it is the most important.

The second and third questions imply that there is a good reason for 8𠖥1. Is it a noble cause? They have stated that they will do nothing illegal, so it can't really be a bad cause.

Reading through the formspring again made me catch this: http://www.formspring.me/8X3X11/q/211258967505012851
"What are you selling?"

"Nothing tangible."

They could have replied 'We're not selling anything' but they specifically said 'nothing tangible'. This makes me think that they are going for a cause of some sort, and it is one that they believe is positive. Nothing tangible means it's an idea, not something physical. Does this mean it's a philosophical idea? Also, I think diseases are considered tangible. They're not selling diseases (selling being understood as 'pitching' or 'campaigning for') because diseases are too real.

All of this has been kind of stated in that the theories suggested have all been good causes. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this, only that no theory that says it's the end of the world or whatever would be true. It's definitely not a marketing thing, I didn't even really consider this.

The question we're trying to answer is definitely more than "who is Belle?", though I would like to know who she is.

There is also this question:
http://www.formspring.me/8X3X11/q/208202742102007327
"Why are you doing this?"

"Because you won't."

This makes me uncertain of any Jewish/Nazi theories because the Holocaust has already had so much coverage.

It could be related to the debt ceiling, but I have no idea how so and there's so many pieces of the puzzle that don't fit.

I think that's the problem. Theories are good but then you find one and go oh, this and this and this works, but what about that? Nothing synchronizes perfectly. That's what makes this so difficult.

Also, rather unrelated to the posts above, but I can't stop thinking about the DooM reference. Did they play DooM together? Did they meet because of DooM? 175,000 specifically said 'we' in his response. It also says the ONLY video game they've ever played is DooM. It could be a reference to something, or another clue. I don't think this is an intentional lie because.. well, I'm inclined to believe them, and if they lied about this then why would they pick and choose which questions they're allowed to answer? They could just pick an obvious question and then lie about it. But that would make the game not fun.

Sorry for this huge rambling thing.

I have a question. Has anyone actually seen people posting these fliers? Or has anyone here printed and posted any themselves? My girlfriend said she saw a group of people posting them in the mall she works at, and they were in all-black dress clothes. She thought it was a little odd especially for the area, but figured they were posting missing person fliers. Who knows if they're just playing along or maybe just a coincidence. I doubt it has much to do with anything but interesting nonetheless.

Hello, I just found out about this yesterday and have been reading and doing research almost ever since. I barely got any sleep yesterday night because I was bothered so much by this.

Originally, I thought this had something to do with Nazisim. The reasons are fairly obvious, between the umbrella (a peace sign the jewish used with the nazis) and the date itself (the day Hitler gained power over germany) it seemed like it had something to do with that for sure, however a lot of research has me second guessing.

One of the things I'm curious about is the bible references. Specifically, their references to John 8: 3-11. Obviously, this caught my attention for a multitude of reasons. The first reason was just the number itself. Obviously 8-3-11. The second reason is another question they answered on their formspring. While I forget what the question itself was (I don't have it open in front of me) the answer was something about Jake's birthday on August 15th. Jake is a nickname for Johnathon. The connections are there, so obviously the verse is important. Could this have something to do with stoning? Anything is possible I guess.

Then I started looking at all the pictures. Some of them seemed irrelevant completely. Some did not, especially the picture of the yorkie with the keys in it. I think there's something there, but I'm not sure what.

Then of course, there's the idea that a comet will be coming extremly close to Earth around that time of year, and they have been providing us with the names of some stars and stuff.

However, what really bothers me, is that none of these clues are really related in anyway. And with all the research done, and with all the questions answered, there's still so very little known about these people. Why are they using nicknames? Who is Jake? What is going to happen on August 3rd 2011, and where will it take place? Why did they choose to relay information over Formspring instead of using the more popular internet medium, Facebook? There's so many questions unanswered that they refuse to answer on the Formspring. I can't wait till August 3rd to find out what's really going on.

Also, what is this strange skin disease Belle seems to have, and is it actually relevant to anything?
