Hmm... Sounds to me to be more like restoring a backup than a reboot. What do you guys think?

I confirmed the reboot with Alex/Scimitar and reported I gave Dan a heads up to get out of there before the reboot. His response:
Quote:
Ok thanks. Of course he won't die. That wasn't my concern. But then again, just to be safe. But, did you tell him it was me?

And because I had just enough of talking about stupid planet trajectories for the day, I broke the sad news to him: Rolling Eyes
Quote:
Well hey, I figured it was only fair for the puppet to know who's
behind its strings. Why, is Miller not as harmless as he makes
himself out to be?

And his response:
Quote:
I don't really know. But ok, I'll guess I'll have to deal with Miller, soon. Oh, and FAILTECH Emails don't work anymore, well at least right now. No one can receive or send emails using company email.

Hmm. Let's hope Miller finds an alternate way of communication.

EDIT - just asked Alex "Now what?". His reply:
Quote:
I and my own team will have to go Antarctica, that's what. I'll have to check with Miller and make sure this planned operation wouldn't go any more wrong.

Hmmm... Maybe my idea of calling him and asking him to switch to Wave wasn't a bad one? The question is, though, can their phone network operate without LAINSY, or is it, like everything else. too tightly connected? Anyone willing to call? I'm too busy right now. Heck, I shouldn't even be on this forum right now. I'm just not too horrible at multitasking.

This was added to the end:
Quote:
* Life support disconnected! Running independently
* Facility environmental controls disconnected! Running independently
* Automated doors disconnected! Running manually

Sounds more like they are being disconnected from the central hub than being disabled.

Exactly, so that means if safe locks opens, then it can defrost and spread biohazard

Seems like you spoke too soon. Most recent addition:
Quote:
* All other independent services disconnected! Running independently

Accessing Safe Locks . . . DONE
Powering down Safe Locks . . .
* Facility employees need to transfer Safe Locks contents to
secure containment immediately *

Excellent point, duke. Maybe there is a way for Miller to get in touch with us -- if he had caller ID on when people called in for the password of that Word document. We'll see if he makes it.

I wished Alex a nice trip. His response:
Quote:
Yep I will. I'll still have to hear back from Orein on the next step.

It's good to hear the Orein is still in the game, at least.

Eh, you beat me to the status message quote... Not re-posting, I don't like redundancies.

posse, are you willing to try making a call? It probably won't go through, but it's still worth a shot.

Ok, it changed to:
Quote:
Powering down mainframes . . . COMPLETE
* ALL MAINFRAMES WILL POWER UP ON: 22:42:00 -05:00 GMT *
* 60 Minute powerdown required for system power cycle *
* DO NOT ATTEMPT EARLY POWER UP *

Looks like we play the waiting game for an hour.

Wow, things kinda exploded here, eh?

Looks like the Alex/Scimitar comparison was more dead-on than I thought. It's interesting how he changed his tune once a couple of us were willing to work with him, too. d:

...Okay, I also just have to say that the "Far Eastern" and "France" reactor messages were delightfully vague when juxtaposed with the others. XD

Heh, Alberta facility. Either a funny coincidence, or the PM knows roughly where some of us are located.

Oh sure, no problem, since I found my old PC microphone I can use Google Talk to call. Smile Anyway, all I got was a recording that says, "This number does not accept calls right now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please hang up and call later."

I didn't leave a voicemail. If we don't hear from Dan within a day or two, I'll definitely leave one with my Google Voice number.

So I emailed Scimitar a few things I hoped to get an answer about

First I asked him about the mirroring command. His response:
Quote:
It means LAINSY is making sure each of her mainframe has an exact copy of her so that if one goes corrupted, it can just get a noncorrupted copy from the other mainframes when LAINSY goes back online.

Then I said the thing we were worried about was the core error which he responsded:
Quote:
Yep, hoepfully it is indeed not a cause for any conecern. Usually that kind of error can be ignored for up to 48 hours.

So hopefully they can address it down there after the boot up completes.

Edit: Another new message on the website:
Quote:
System Message Received from: ANTARCTICA FACILITY -- Biohazard Detection System
--- START OF MESSAGE ---
!! ATTENTION REQUIRED !! WARNING: BIOHAZARD ON LEVEL 55 (SAFE LOCKS) OF ANTARCTICA FACILITY
--- END OF MESSAGE ---
