I see Merzbow and Lustmord have already been mentioned. These guys really remind me of Marble Hornets. Especially Merzbow, whose music sounds like the distortion created by Slenderman, only it goes on for hours and hours.

Nurse With Wound is another noise band that's reminiscent of Marble Hornets. Music that's dissonant and noisy yet creepy and hauntingly beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in something 'different'.

Shattered Man Falling by Nurse With Wound

I also noticed that someone brought up Venetian Snares. Though they're one of my favorites, I can't think of any Venetian Snares songs that remind me of Marble Hornets.

What I can't believe is that nobody has mentioned the song 'Hello Skinny' by The Residents. It's a song that immediately came to mind when I first heard of Slenderman. The Residents have gone through many transformations through the years but the last decade of their work definitely captures the feeling of being watched, it really raises your hackles.

Hello Skinny by The Residents

Primus covering Hello Skinny

The Residents have produced art, music and live shows for 40 years without revealing their identities. Much like the Slenderman, they too are a completely mysterious force that doesn't interface with reality like the rest of us. If The Operator were in a band, it'd probably be The Residents.

The Whispering Boys by The Residents

Lovesong for a Vampire by The Residents

The Residents even did an ARG called The Bunny Boy. Definitely worth checking out, the first six episodes can be found here.

Anyways. I'm totally psyched someone made this thread. I'm always on the prowl for new music so I'll be scouring through here in search of anything that might pique my interest.

Lake Pontchartrain by Ludo for general creepiness, less than intelligent protagonists, disappearing friends, and possibly tentacles.

Quote:
Darius was yelling that he saw somebody out in the swells;
He jumped out, runnin', and Noland was goin' as well.
"Come back!" Why the hell would they leave the car?
And that's when I heard it, make no mistake -
The voices were calling them from under the lake...

I swear Nine Inch Nails could be the entire damn soundtrack for Marble Hornets.

The Warning wrote:
Some say it was a warning
Some say it was a sign
I was standing right there
When it came down from the sky
The way it spoke to us
You felt it from inside
Said it was up to us, up to us to decide
You've become a virus
That's killing off this host
We've been watching you with all of our eyes
And what you seem to value most
So much potential
Or so we used to say
Your greed, self-importance and your arrogance
You piss it all away
We heard her cry
We've come to intervine
You will change your ways and you will make amends
Or we will wipe this place clean
Your time is tick, tick, ticking away...

Also this

BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

(After MH is over I would love to see a music video for Jim Croce's "Operator" set to a Marble Hornets montage. Cool )

Lemon Demon: View-Monster - Something Glowing (NO VIDEO GOOD LUCK FINDING IT)
Lyrical Example:

Indefinite and definitely dreamed about,
there's something
in my closet, under my bed, but mostly
outside my window.
There's something making noise.
Some terrible kaleidoskull
that ever so gently destroys
the minds of those who believe it.
And though I can't quite perceive it,
I can tell it's there
by the way it's not quite there.

Jonathan Coulton - Creepy Doll:
A song about being stalked. Although by a doll.

Cheap Trick - Dream Police

Every single song by Inhale
http://startofdarkness.com/download.html

Just... all of them. And they are also all High Octane Nightmare Fuel, so beware.

Besides those...
Taking Back My Soul by Arch Enemy
God Inside My Head by The Catherine Wheel
I Will Posses Your Heart by Death Cab For Cutie (the full version with the several minutes of instrumental at the beginning, implying that the narrator is stalking the object of his affections)
The Way by Fastball
The Snake by Johnny Rivers
Static To The Heart by Jukebox The Ghost (one of my favorite bands!)
I Know You're There by Matthew Ebel (good luck finding this one, guys. May just have to upload this myself.)
And, lastly,
Shining Bright Despite The Plight by Pretty Lights

There seems to be some NIN fans here, I like that.

I always wanted to do a MH tribute video with this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWs8kdGUgDg

I always felt the lyrics to this song and The Operator's spell-binding control over Alex/Tim/etc corresponded exceptionally well... But now that 'Smooth Operator' has come into the conversation, I just may have to reconsider. Laughing

You got it. I wasn't speaking to you directly, pretty much the general public. Razz
