Appart from being totally disturbed, these things jumped out at me and I was like, "How did he know that?"

I thought perhaps he was in kahoots with the stupid_cop... But he didn't seem the kind to hook up with Thin...

But Jan did tell her "Aunt" about what happened there... So, that falls into place nicely.

About that...

I believe that the Cop from chapter's 1 and 2 is also in on the deal.
He was crooked, and he also knew way too much about jan, IE: miracles.wav

He knew to much to be a coincidence, and he will almost certainly be mentioned as to why he knew, or he'll come back all together before the end of the game.
I just want to insert my idea that he is part of monster ann's squad...

I have to disagree with you on this.

After seeing what she could do, it isn't much of a jump for stupid_cop to realise that Jan had some tweaking...

Hell, even WE figured that one out.

Stupid_Cop made a simple guess.

Thin's comments are right on the mark.

The more I think about it, and listen to the .wav files, the more I'm willing to bet large amounts of money that Aunt Gladys is Monster Ann.

possible it was a guess... but unlikly...

It dirrectly indicates that he may have some fore-hand knoledge on the spartan program...
He knew and told Jan things that she never displayed to him:
"Never get sick, never get drunk, don't need much sleep..."

Coincidence, and a guess?
That is one hell of a guess if you ask me.

(and yeah, thinking about it, and reviewing the evidence against it... the cop probrably won't be in this league... but I still think he will return some time soon...)

I don't think so.

If you were going to alter a human being in some way, or if you were going to be altered yourself... What sorts of changes would you make?

So if you had suspected somebody of being altered, what sorts of changes would you think had been made?

Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm".

Here's a question for any Bungie'ologists that may be listening: Is the fact that the military has the ability to alter people in such a way a secret? Were the Spartan 1.0's a secret? Appart from the fact that they were kidnapped children, were the Spartan 2.0's a secret? From what I remember playing Halo, Master Chief was something of a curiosity, but people had an idea of what he was...

Originally, the SPARTAN program was super secret special op's material, but during the early stages of the human-covie war they were Partially revealed, but in a limited way. they are mostly a public relation/patriotism thing, ie, the UNSC could talk about how successful they were on the ground, and distract people from the Real losses. its generally known that they are altered and trained to be the best of the best, but the true history and original names and records of SPARTANs are wrapped in the tightest security the UNSC has. the brass Knows how upset people would be if the whole story came out.

this is all just from the books.

I dont know about the SPARTAN I's, but they Probably remained secret all the way through their operational lifetime. there may have been Some reference to them, as a program, from the UNSC when talking about Spartan IIs.

This is just from the say_please wav "Durga: Me. You are Gladys Wilson, born Gladys Ashantia Swanson in Tehoca, Texas. You volunteered for a Spartan program in January of 2491, after a year and a half of special forces."

Glady's volunteering leaves me to believe that the Spartan I's were not that top secret, more of a Special Ops, but military personnel knew who and what was going on.

The Monster Ann=Glady's spec is very good, hopefully a few questions will be answered next update. Like who told James^2 where Jan was, why he went alone. Mostly things we can only spec about.

I think you just answered your own question. Kidnapping children is the key word. Of course it was secret, but the 1.0's were volunteers. And to add fuel to the fire the only people who really knew what they were was Military to begin with.(Most of the Characters in the ilovebees Saga has a Military background as well) There were no civilians in Halo 1. None that I remember.... so correct me if I'm wrong on that. However, the Grunts referred to Master Chief as the "Bad Cyborg" from time to time. So I guess you can say the Covies knew what he was. But it is Ironic that we knew what an Elite was as well. That is just Military Intel on your Enemy. Keyword - Military

Let's get back on Topic...... I went back trough the Earlier Posts to Correct myself and Read up on Spec that has already been Said. But it boggles my brain when I read this transcript.
If Durga knows that much about Aunt Gladys.......... Wouldn't she have tipped Jersey to the fact that She was Monster Ann to begin with? I think we have gone down a very long road of Wild Spec only to reach a Dead end.
Just like Incitatus said in the beginning. There is no proof to back this up. However, you could Counter Spec this Wild Spec easily.

I don't know Dude.... That was a really bad test, considering Jan did Recon on the area before she made any type of movement on the Main Suspect.
And Thin Kinkle was more or less getting revenge on Jan. He was mad, and wanted to teach her a lesson. I mean come on, This was the second time she got the Best of Him.

OK, i've been putting a lot of thought into this. How to add to this isn't easy. Especially seeing as Firefox is messin' me round so i'm having to use Notepad...

Right, let's get some transcripts in:

this_damn_rain wrote:
Jan: ...On the other hand, he obviously hasn't gotten his dad killed.
Gladys: (admonishingly) Now I told you once and I'll tell you again: That dog don't hunt. Jim James got in over his head. It happens.
Jan: (angrily) It's Rule Number One, Gladys, never go into a situation alone!
Gladys: And he broke it.
Jan: Because it was me!
Gladys: (softly) Sometimes those things happen, honey. Like the weather. (sadly) Like this damn rain...

Right, it is quite clear in the above Gladys has no pity for James. She also doesn't seem to have much pity for Jan, and in particular what she has just gone through. She says nothing about Jan's torture, just that "Jim James got in over his head". Now, we know from Gilly that the 1.0's are quite cold, but still...

Now, compare to Gilly:

shhh_baby wrote:
Gilly: (quiet female voice) Shhhhh...shhhhh…baby...Mommy's here.

THAT is a compassionate response to the situation, OK, so the whole funeral thing brings out her cold side:

not_coming wrote:
Jan: [Surprised] Aren't you going to the funeral?
Gilly: Hmmmm, dead people don't interest me so much.
Jan: [Taken aback] Jesus!
Gilly: It's not like Jim Lee is going to be there, kid.

But we could also take that as she is more bothered about the survivors- one Janissary James. Of course, at said funeral, Gladys is hardly an emotional person:

one_point_one wrote:
Gladys: Jen, honey, you okay? I'm sorry, he was a good man.
Jan: Thanks.
Gladys: Well. That was a nice service: clean, short. Hon, aren't you cold?

It's all very stock responses. Once again, she is military; but for someone who in the past has claimed to care so much, very muted answers.

Then we have her shock at Durga's dredging:

say_please wrote:
Durga: [Through a chatter] Me. You are Gladys Wilson. Born Gladys Ashanti Swanson in Tahoga, Texas. You volunteered for a SPARTAN program in January of 2491, after a year and a half of special forces.
Gladys: How in the world --
Durga: Your superior, Arn Lewis, said he okayed the transfer because you were a good soldier, but -- in his words -- more trouble than fire ants at a barbecue. And this was one way to get rid of you.
Gladys: What the hell is this?!
Durga: You were decorated for bravery at Eridanus, retired after making gunnery sargeant, entered into a brief but spectacular marriage with a man who just couldn't keep his zipper shut.
Gladys: Shut her up!

This could be construed as her just wanting her life to not be dredged in public; it could also be taken as she worries about it digging deeper, and unearthing a few "home truths" that would sting a little. In fact, there's only one thing she jumps on more:

this_damn_rain wrote:
Gladys: (laughing) Well, it's not like you can stay with Gilly.

On the subject of Gladys vs Gilly, do we have anything on why they dislike each other so much? Perhaps Gladys has a distaste for her methodology, and prefers some more "clean work" - like the killing of J^2, and Jan's torture...

It's all [SPEC], and we all know it Very Happy[/quote]

perhaps, but Durga has also shown instances of not knowing a situation where she was not already paying attention. She had not not been paying attention to Jan at the time prior to abduction, thus the shock she and Jersey both experienced upon finding her in the playhouse. She also did not readily know the info on J2 background and asked if Jersey wanted her to dig further. She has had no reason to find Gladys interesting enough to look into... especially since she has been distracted with not being able to find Kamal. Just my thoughts. Very Happy

If all durga can muster out of the situation is an alias "monster Ann" it is likly that this is through alternate contacts. Monster ann may be offline as we suspect JJ of being, prior to his death.

Why would they need to "handle" Gladys? There's a GOOD chance they may be talking about Gladys being called into the conversation, but if you read it a little cock-eyed it sounds like Durga is complimenting Jersey on something they'd planned on/for. Definitely an anbiguous read, but it could add some weight.

I thought she was referring to Jan, though, and the sadness of the situation. Hm. It sounds like she's cutting in on his next thought in order to reassure him that he did OK with talking to Jan about eavesdropping on her.

I'm going to dissent a little based on this:

go_ninja wrote:

Jersey: Listen, listen - Kinkle's boss is a woman called Monster Ann, she works out of a place called Crystal Security Fence & Gate.

Monster Ann is using Crystal Security Fence and Gate as a cover for her ops. If Durga doesn't know where Gladys works, then this is either a huge plot hole, or Monster Ann != Gladys.

The "go stay with Morales [and his dweeb 1.1 kid - my addition]" line could be a way of keeping tabs on Jan

Just a note, I find it amusing that they're dismissing this kid so handily. I wouldn't be surprised if he became part of the story in the next few weeks, if for no other reason than that he is a 1.1, and Jan holds such utter disdain for him right now because "he can't understand what I'm going through, boo hoo!" It'd add to a pretty long cast list, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
turbov21 wrote:

Because she could do any number of legal and illegal things to Jersey if she thinks he's lying to get close to Jan. Don't underestimate an angry 1.0.

I think some of the spec regarding Gladys's lack of compassion are reading too deeply at this point. She's the best of the best, and she's almost certainly spent most of her life fighting. Just like Durga wouldn't transfer Jersey's dad because he's military, Gladys knows that J^2 knew exactly what he was getting into. Even if she hates to see a comrade die, it's almost certainly happened to her many times before, and little comments under her breath are the extent to which she'll allow herself to get angry.

Now, that said, there are some compelling reasons in this thread to believe she might've been in on this mess from the beginning. If so, we have some very interesting weeks of WAVs ahead of us...

I agree. I think Jan will get Morales help her put the smack down on Thin and everyone he's involved with. Somehow, I don't think Jan will have too much trouble convincing him. Wink

Trout me if you will, but I'm too lazy to read the last five pages. However, has no one suggested that the backup that J^2 said he had wasn't a bluff, but Gladys? That would make a lot of sense to me. I don't think James James is stupid enough to go into a situation alone, it's just his backup never showed up. It seems no one has considered that (or y'all have dismissed it for some strange reason) and it's definitely worth considering.

In any case, trout away.
