I'm thinking that the series is building up to a huge endgame. Rather than a slow buildup to an ending, it appears that the series is rapidly accelerating, and I'm honestly getting the same kind of vibe that I was getting toward the end of the fifth season of Lost. I think we're in for a pretty monumental set of entries and TTA responses that will comprise the end of the series.

What do I want in this series of videos?

- Retreads of previous entries, with missing parts restored. Entry #1 with audio, or Entry #12 when Alex actually approaches the Operator, for example.
- More frequent Operator encounters, and more complete encounters. What happens when they encounter him? What happens when they get really close to him? What happened when Alex approached him? Why does the video and audio get distorted?
- Explanations for missing characters.
- Character motives. Does Alex actually care about helping Jay, or does he just want Amy back, or is there something more sinister? Why did Tim become Masky?
- Plot resolution. How does this end for them? Do they die? Do they find a way to keep the Operator at bay?
- No explanation about The Operator's origins or motives. Eldritch abominations are far scarier than explained phenomena.

The ending was that one of them I dont remember who would be driving down a road with lamposts on the side of the road and they would see the operator standing next to a light post but they would see him at every single light post after that showing that can never escape.

That is, scary. Shocked

Think about it, they CAN'T really escape. The people in the other Slenderseries can't really escape either (well from their own entities)

Yep, and it would end abruptly, with it being dark and foggy and J or Alex or one of the main characters saying like I can deal with this. It'll all be okay. and then it ends.

The camera cuts back in, still distorted, but also noticeably shaking. It's looking up from an odd angle at a computer desk. Alex is calmly opening some video editing software, then picks up the camera. We can see his glossed over eyes, slack jawed mouth, and blood stains under his nose. As he goes back to the computer, he turns the camera around where we can see Jay and Brian on the floor having mouth foaming seizures. Alex sets the camera on the desk, pulls out a USB cord, and turns off the camera.

So, Alex is on a lot of cocaine and everyone else is ODing from taking too much bathtub meth cut with laundry detergent?

...well, yeah, I could see that.

Good question, how the hell DO I want it to end?

I thought of saying

Quote:
Remember how Jumanji began? Let's make that sort of the ending.

But that's not really satisfactory, now is it?
I can only either think of someone putting up the last entry that ends abruptly with what we can assume is Jay's death, he tells the camera his password, someone finds it, edits the password out, uploads it. I can't really think of anything satisfactory, which can only mean for me they have to come up with something either really, really REALLY good, or they're just more creative than I am.

I think that a lot of us want to see an old video that Jay suddenly comes across that would be the last one. So how about this: Jay finds a video somewhere (maybe he'll find it somewhere really dramatic like when he went to the tower) with every single person involved just sitting there, Godfather style, around the table, and it starts with Alex saying "Okay. It's rolling. Let's begin."

You know, I have a question. Despite being on here a few months, I really haven't delved deeply into the various Slender-verses. Obviously, MH is pretty much the flagship of the slendy-vlogs (and maybe Slender culture as it is), but there's obviously a lot of other material out there.

So, here's my question: Have any of the other Slender blogs/vlogs/ARGs actually had an ending? I mean a definitive, curtain falls, "FIN" ending? I'm not counting an abandoned or failed series, or ones that merge with someone else. An ending can be a lot of things, it doesn't have to resolve everything or necessarily even be climatic, but should generally be considered a conclusion. I don't know that I've heard anyone mention another series as having done that.

I think if someone had, someone would have mentioned it on this thread at least (e.g. "Well as long as they don't do it like in 'Slenderstar Galactica'," or "I think 'Free Slendy' had a good ending, so they could do something like that"). And if no one has, I think that puts a lot of pressure on MH when they finally decide to tread into that ultimate groundbreaking moment.

This is totally going to be how it ends. In a montage.

Well for vlogs there's Angel's Game and uh... Angel's Game. Even then, though, there's an ongoing work that exists in AG's continuity. I don't read a lot of blogs but Just Another Fool is the only one I can think of and that ended really abruptly. There are probably others, though.

EDIT: Actually, rereading your post I don't think AG would count under your conditions. Lol.

Actually my conditions should just be boiled down to: not abandoned, creator said or essentially indicated "that's it, I'm done, story's complete".

I thought that TribeTwelve had ended with the Nature Trail Visit video, but after reading that post I went to double check, and there were three more videos. Really, the series could have ended at about the 12:25 mark in that video and I would have been happy.

I didn't really read through Just Another Fool, but I think it ended with "lolmissing".

Do not do that, Troy.

This just reminds me of a diatribe I had the other day about the very idea of concluding a Slender-story. How would one go about that? The only logical conclusion would be, "Slender Man killed the main character(s). The End."

To do other than that, to have the main character(s) survive their chain of encounters with Slendy, or to even possibly win against him, would work against the whole idea of Slender Man. Say you've got Generic Slender Man Story, with Character A and Character B being stalked. This goes on for a while, the story gets quite a following, then the conclusion. The characters figure out how to defeat Slender Man. They do so and the story concludes, they survive and Slendy's been defeated.

That wouldn't sit well with the wider community, I think. The more well-known and accepted the story, the harder this would hit. Slender Man can be defeated. He has a weakness. That would go against the entire idea of Slender Man in the first place, that he is an invincible foe, that once he starts stalking, there is no hope for the target. Thus this would weaken the whole premise of Slender Man.

Now, putting this in context of Marble Hornets, I don't know how it could end, but, going with my argument, it could only end one way. Given how preeminent a story Marble Hornets is in the Slender Man mythos, however it ends will have a large and lasting impact on the mythos.
