 		So yeah, Notch says that they'll be passive at first and just kind wander around. Looking at them makes them stop and stare at you, but if you look directly at them, they stop being passive. Once you stop looking at them, they'll run really fast, and teleport, in your direction. Meaning, yes, we'll have occasions where we see one off in the distance, turn around, and then look back only to find it directly in front of us.

That's brilliant. But I have to say, Watson still isn't quite as creepy as a statue of an angel.

I swear that the first alternate texture for the Endermans (Endermen?) is going be a Slender Man skin.

Notch is totally watching us. One of his tweets about this monster was something to the effect of "introduce new mob, watch speculation about what it can do, and then implement that and pretend it was the plan all along." So, while he may not be watching here specifically, he sure as hell is watching.
