My personal theory: Sigma radiation is not just the signature of Slender Man, but of all Candleverse/Ark inhabitants.
I hate to disagree, but there's a slight flaw in this. Slendy sets the thing off just from being nearby. Evan, however, doesn't set the thing off. Only his blood does that, and only when it's in very close proximity. Therefore, there's obviously something different about the boys and Slender Man when it comes to their reasons for being irradiated, or else they'd be irradiated in the same way. Not saying that your theory is definitively false, I just don't think it's likely.

Actually... to quibble with your quibble... we don't actually hear the device in the video where it was found, because of the slender-distortion. So we don't know when it kicked in. Yes... it could have been detecting SM at that point, but Vinnie was also spitting up all manner of potentially sigma irradiated fluids at the same time. It could just as easily have been reacting to that and not SM at all.

Also SM is probably a lot MORE irradiated or whatever. He may not have a structure that is strictly inside stuff/outside stuff like the humans do that shields the radiation from detection the way skin and muscle seem to. We're dealing with a lot of big variables here.
True enough, but to me, it's seemed like the boys have taken big steps in making sure we know that the thing goes off whenever Our Tall Friend is there. Maybe we could ask them if it started ticking before or after Vinnie started puking up whatever that stuff was. Still, to me it seems more like if it was Evan himself that was irradiated and it wasn't something particular with his blood, then he'd be setting the thing off, as well. But eh, I doubt we'll be able to come to any real conclusions until the other two check their blood.

@Tijde- Yeah, I've heard people mention that they think Slender Man might be a Nephilim, and I assume that theory could be taken one step further if you take the name literally. It's not a theory I personally subscribe to, but there's definitely some evidence pointing in that direction.

As an aside, we heard the Geiger counter going off when they found it, several minutes before Slender Man showed up.

I wonder what it was reacting to?

I also wonder why the quote tags are screwing up.

Because an ending tag got missed in the process. Should be fixed.

And what of the storage unit itself? It clearly exists in multiple times, perhaps the detector was reacting just to the unit.

Or who knows, maybe Evan had a nosebleed.

Where and When did they find the piece of supposed slender-suit that the machine's goin off on?

You need to read the wiki!

The Black Box Device itself.

The notes from the scientist who examined the piece of cloth.

and finally: The letters where Corenthal describes finding it.

So...wait...Slendy's like...the three headed rabbit from Chernobyl? 0_o

So are we keeping away from Evan because he's, well, you-know-who? And why is he infected? Are the other guys infected as well? These are things that must be tested!

Extremely disturbing CYSTW post sighted. I think I'll go sit in the corner for a while now.

edit: Dangnabbit, I don't know how I missed the post in the news-update thread. Sorry about that, I should read the post date before I freak out.

Do we know if there was anything in particular that Jeff found out that led him to start prohibiting Alex from seeing Evan?

I would just say it's due to Evan being crazy (because he is), but he's been crazy most of the time it seems. I'm not sure if it's canon that the guys review video and notice such things.

I also thought it was weird, though, that he's pretty much randomly like "No Evan for you", but I suppose sometimes older sibling intuition talks. Besides, since it's a possibility that that scene is "hidden", who knows where it falls chronologically. For all we know it could be related to the ominous hidden video of Evan talking all HABIT-like with his knife (which, if it is, is a pretty sound reason for Jeff's actions).

Maybe he's finally reading some of the 57,680,228* emails that we've sent them warning them about Evan...

*Give or take a couple hundred...

They can't see that though.
It's probably because of the way he was wailing on the deer with his machete, not to mention his rather chilling "You shouldn't have tried to pull me off..." later.

...thousand...

Well, we were generally good about differentiating between HABIT and Evan, so even when we were warning them about the possible HABIT connection, we had put emphasis on trusting Evan himself...
Also I'm thinking the "Deer" Incident is what did it.

Considering the last time we saw her was in latest hidden vid. I'm going to toss my hat into the "HABIT killed her" ring.

I guess the actress is on vacation.

The whole stay-away-from-Evan thing rubs me the wrong way on so many levels. Not just because Jeff and him might be on the outs, but because Evan (crazy crazy or not) has always been really good with Alex... and, honestly, has been there for him when Jeff wasn't.

I just don't want the whole protective big brother shtick to backfire because Jeff was distrusting the wrong person. Sad

D'oh! That makes perfect sense, and it hadn't even occurred to me. To be fair, though, my undergrad was kind of unusual in that almost everyone got an off-campus apartment immediately after their freshman year ended, so almost nobody left town for extended breaks.

I've been backing the dark-horse possibility that Steph has been Slenderized out of existence, so the boys don't even remember that she used to be there. This is highly unlikely, of course, but it would explain why she didn't have a card representing her in Box 5.
