Attention all "experts", the recent breakdown in the integrity of this team has made me doubt who I can trust. Alex has helped us in the past, but he will help us no more, I believe. By burning old bridges, we are doing harm to our chances of seeing this investigation through.

The truth is, Orein is our true allie, while Dan and Alex both have their own personal goals in the matter. Although Dan has hid stuff from us in the past, a gentle prodding normally opened him up. With Alex, however, he hides everything Genus has sent him. He doesn't want us to know Genus' plan. If we are to help Genus, we are not to help Alex.

Remember this, Alex wanted us to do everything for him. Yet he wouldn't let us hear that transmission. Strange, no? Dan intercepts this transmission to help us out, yet someone reports it back to the man that wanted to hide it from us to begin with. We are still doing all the work for Alex!

What the...! It was most definitely not me! No one help that snake in the grass Alex! We need to talk to Daniel. We need to discuss all decisions as a group. If you want to go rogue, at least tell us so we can tell them another faction is involved.

I don't think I'd necessarily blame whoever let Alex know, since we've been trying to keep both of them on top of our activities. However, this is a good opportunity to re-think how we interact with both of them. Maybe we can come up with some general guidelines of what does and doesn't need community input, and what needs a flat out vote?

I guess as an example, if, say, Dan gives us a new puzzle, it's kind of a no-brainer to contact him if we can get a solution. Likewise, asking about and replying to background or story information seems to be pretty safe.

Things that are perceived to be A Big Deal, like rebooting LAINSY, could stand to use some significant community discussion before we act. I think we managed that fairly well, and if we keep it up there shouldn't be a problem. Very Happy

The middle ground is kinda iffy. A situation where either Alex or Dan, but not both, has offered a puzzle, may warrant discussion as to whether we should release the same information to the other. As for "outside" messages, such as from Gene or future contacts, a bit of group discussion would likely be wise. After all, we don't have any definitive proof as to who's trustworthy.

So... Thoughts?

No updates? Anyways, just so people know, the website updated, and a background with a planet with three moons (probably this is from the image from the blog?) and two tracks were added to the music list...

One of which is SSTV, and another morse code... I'm not so good with these, so I'll leave it to you guys... I check the blog and it has a new entry, with just a link, and it points to the website... so I guess Genus is responsible for those...

Also, I'm confused... the FAILTECH Twitter page retweeted a few tweets from... Aperture Laboratories... Is this meant to suggest that they reside inside of the ARG's universe, or does the ARG just recognize them as a fictional group?

I can't get the website to load on my phone so I will have to leave the decoding to you guys for now. One question that has been bothering me is, why is genus sending out coded messages that other people than Alex can see if everything is going according to their plan?

Well, I got the SSTV decoded (yes I got an SSTV program to work! Now I just need to convert it. Unforums doesn't seem to allow bitmap files...). Still trying to get anything out of the other file. Doesn't sound quite like Morse code to me. It's too repetitive. CWget gets nothing from it. Going to try MRP40. EDIT: That program doesn't seem to work on my computer.

EDIT2: Here's the SSTV image decoded. I really don't know what to make of it. Still nothing on the second sound file.

EDIT3: I'm an idiot, this is definitely Morse code. It's just going a little bit fast. I'll record the file and slow it down a tad. Then, if CWget still can't understand it, I should be able to copy it manually.

Ok, here are my slowed down AUP and MP3 files together in a zip should someone else wish to have a go at the Morse. I will now try CWget once more. EDIT: Ok, I'm pretty sure CWget is utter crap. To manual decoding! AWAAY!

EDIT2: Ok, I'm not done yet. Need to go do other things. Here's what I have so far: The time I stopped is marked at the end, and one point where I saw a .- but wasnt sure is also marked.
