Haha yeah. A lot of people were freaking at the CoS forums. I feel sorry for the people who haven't gotten their validation emails yet. :/ My mom keeps stressing about whether I truly got in or not, haha. Now I just have to wait for the welcome letter to arrive. (:

For a summary of what went down last night, if anyone's curious...

Apparently attendees of Leakycon got an email sometime yesterday/last night that gave them a "head start" of sorts. A jpeg made rounds in chat rooms and comment sections, and since it would no longer be spoiling anything, I think I can safely link it here. So, going by that information, Potterheads camped out on the website starting around 8 am BST/3 am EST/12 am PST. Much waiting was had since nothing was put up right away (as per the hint, which stated "sometime after"). The clue (which was so kindly provided by starfire above) was posted nearly an hour later (somewhere between X:50 - X:55 am, depending on the time zone).

By the by, it's worth noting that the leaked hint mentions going to Diagon Alley. You didn't have to navigate to pottermore.com/diagonalley, as some had predicted. Rather, the clue referenced Chapter Five of the first book, which is literally titled "Diagon Alley."

What Happens At quill.pottermore.com
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Attaching the answer to the end of the quill.pottermore.com address sends you to a series of new pages, including some fill-out-your-information stuff and a short "game" where feathers drift by and you have to click on the Magical Quill. It's kind of awesome to get to the screen of The Big Book Of Wizards and see your name listed with characters from the books! You also get to choose a screen name from a predetermined list. As examples from my own list, expect something along the lines of "FeatherBolt" or "HeartHex" followed by a couple random numbers.

I managed to get mine in within ten minutes of the clue going up. If you get in there fast you can get your email almost right away. XD

Cool. Anyone else staying up for tonights? (Not sure I know CoS well enough to get it, tho!)

I do hope it hurries up! I'm supposed to be at work in twenty minutes...
I have my copy of Chamber of Secrets at my side, a window ready and waiting to have the address changed, and the calculator loaded just in case!

I see the next hint still isn't up yet. Sucks for people who waited out just until 8 am BST/12 am PST last night, we're never going to have the grace of knowing the time again. XD

My guess is that there'll be a bit of a rolling time switch the rest of the week, so each continent will only have to stay up outrageously late a couple times. Or, alternately, it'll stay in a particular time frame- some places in the Pacific would otherwise have a bit of a mess when it comes to having multiple/no clues on the same day.

Makes sense. Wouldn't want others feeling left out. But Daaaang. This whole waiting game kinda sucks:p

UPDATE: Day Two Clue: Day 2

What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff?
Multiply this number by 42.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
14 * 42 =588

http://quill.pottermore.com/588

.... from there it lead players to the DH Movie Website in which careful observations around the photos lead to the Quill

Account verified by the email. Now I just wait to get into the beta.

Edit: Anyone remember the exact time the clue went up?

For me it was around 2:05am PST last night.

Edit: For those of you who haven't found the quill don't fear! According to the official Pottermore Insider Blog here's a mini tip:)

Can you give me a hint as to when the next Pottermore clue will be released?

We know that many of you waited through the night for the first two clues to be posted on Pottermore.com. Although we can't tell you exactly when the clues will be released - they will all be posted at different times - we can tell you that tomorrow's clue (Clue 3) will be posted some time between 9.00am and 1.00pm BST.

Can you find The Magical Quill?
Day 3 clue

In the Gryffindor versus Slytherin Quidditch match, in Harry's third year, how many points is Gryffindor leading by before Harry catches the Golden Snitch?
Multiply this number by 35.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://quill.pottermore.com/2100 Levitate the quill by rubbing it.
Bingo.

Went up at 3:00 am PST. So that would be 11am bst. =p
