What even is with the weird old-looking book on Alex's desk?

It just seems out of place, and oddly positioned directly to the tape. What if the tape was a red herring, since it's completely nondescript, and was just used to get the book into the frame without making it blatant?

I'll feel a bit silly if it's a well known book, but it doesn't at all look like one I'd expect someone like Alex to own, especially not when he doesn't seem to have any other books out.

The book may be important, but I don't think the tape is a red herring. This series is practically built around the idea of discarded tapes. It'd be odd for them to use something so central to the plot as a red herring.

Are you sure that's Alex walking by the closet? Looks a lot like the operator to me.

Jay breaks in and starts snooping.
The porch door opens and closes audibly.
Jay freaks and hides in the closet.
From the same direction of the porch door, a "figure" walks forward.
Jay's phone vibrates and he silences it.
From the right, where the figure went, we have Alex's voice leaving a voicemail.
Jay exits the closet and tries to run.
From the same direction of the figure, Alex comes out of no where.

If it was the Operator, how would Alex be back there? How would he have made it to that room without walking past the closet?

I honestly don't know. The only reason I could come up with is that we know there is some sort of link between Alex and the Operator, though we don't know the extent of it.

Perhaps the Operator was mimicking or even transmitting Alex's voice? I really don't know, it's just that the legs and feet look rather large, looks like business pants and shoes, and the figure walks silently, slowly, taking big steps. Kinda creeping like the Operator did when Alex was sleeping and whatnot (I forget the entry number. I think it's 11). That's my reasoning for doubting its Alex.

That, and I had a "feeling" that the Operator would appear as Jay was hiding in the closet, concentrating the camera at one still spot on the floor. It's similar camerawork that we've seen earlier when the Operator "creeps" on screen. It just feels like an Operator appearance, to me at least. On my first view I was honestly thinking that the Operator slammed the door and waltzed in while Jay was exploring Alex's Operator Art Museum.

I could see that but I don't believe it, unless the Operator is starting to wear jeans...

Casual Fridays?

lol. Laughing business casual.

Anyone else notice Alex isn't wearing or holding a camera at all in this entry?

Oh jeeze! Yeah, I noticed, but it didn't click until you pointed it out! Oh man, that's actually really important. Since TO does NOT like being filmed, that right there may just be definitive proof that Alex is indeed in a Slend-trance during this entire Entry.

Even if he isn't, it's odd behavior to say the least.

Also, he pretty clearly does have something in his hand when he leaves the house.

I'm thinking the key goes to Amy's place.

Did anyone else notice the tearing when Jay walks through the spot the operator was standing in when he first appeared before Jay goes inside and before the operator appears the first time?

I just want to make sure it's not just my youtube messin' up.

I posted an image of it earlier in the thread, about page 12 or so if anyone needs to see it.

I noticed it as well, and someone earlier posted a picture of it. I'm not sure if its subtle tearing, or if its caused by the editing software when rendering due to being so close to the light at Alex's front door.

Oh yeah, was anyone else waiting for this?

ALEX: HI JAY! YOU FORGOT YOUR FLASHLIGHT!

ALEX coldcocks JAY with a FLASHLIGHT.

As for the book, I almost, almost want to say it looks like a generic diary/journal like you'd get at a bookstore, what with some kinda artdeco 30's-ish looking print of a painting on it. But then it looks like the spine has a title on it (blurred totally beyond recognition).

EDIT: Thanks for the spectro, 'phone.

Hey, the tape didn't have anything on it's little card, right? Jay said there was a few unlabeled tapes from the Hotel stash, one of which was Entry 38.

Maybe Jay will watch each unlabeled tape every time as it is found during the seven month timeline?

But if Alex had the key all along, why would he have been locked out of there when they tried earlier to go to her house?

Unless this is connected to how his keyring disappeared and all that was left was a single key...

Seriously, look at the second screenshot. Those look an awful lot like people, the one on the left looking like he's wearing a suit. And the people don't have faces.

I think it's pretty clear that that's Slendy in one form or another printed on that cover. Doesn't it look that way to you guys?

Where is this in the video? I can't seem to find it.

I got the cap from 2:22, right after he makes a break for the front door.

Oh, I found it. Great find, man.

Everyone else, acknowledge that TO appears again from 2:21-2:22.

2:22 !?

2 is my number, lol. Very Happy thanx Troseph (assuming they lurk here)!
