I was actually thinking about a game based on Slenderman mythos a few months back. What really interested me was the idea of the main character losing his memory very easily. This is why the game would be set exclusively from the POV of the camera; like in MH Entry #22 where Alex says that all of his memory is in the tapes, main character's actions and perceptions could only be monitored and controlled through the camera.
I also think that an original story based on the Slenderman mythos should be thought up. Game should probably have more characters and also explore the slendy phenomenon more (for example: how would authorities react to mysteriously disappearing people, college kids recording EVERYTHING on camera, people in masks etc.)
I actually have my own little story written down, but I don't think I'll share it quite yet

While rading this I realized THIS GAME WOULD BE AWESOME.
But here is my idea.
An alternate game mode (or you could make it a part of the story mode) where you play as totheark in a stealth style game where the objective is to both spy on Jay and leave clues for him. The totheark parts would be less about horror and more about stealth and strategy.
for instance
You would need to keep the camera on Jay without being noticable or getting caught.
It would be a change of pace from the Endless running from the operator as the rest of the game would be.

Just a thought, something that would be cool is that the later part of the game is more a survival horror/freeroam. As Jay, after 7 months has passed, you have lost Jessica and are on the run.
You need to look through tapes to discern the events of the 7 months.
You watch the tapes at any time you want or not at all (but you must to progress the story) and the player enters the Tape so to speak and actually plays the events of the tape. Then when they aren't watching tapes, you have to constantly switch hotels or risk a Masky/Operator attack.

So I was bored and I had photoshop and decided to do a mock-up of the Marble Hornets in-game screen (at least, when you're walking around).
It's not perfect, just a test and feel free to critique and comment and whatnot. Don't worry, I won't get offended if you mock my photoshop skillz.
I chose something from Entry #40 because this is a stable image that has distortion so I could show the camera screen + real time in the game. I might add a box around the "camera view" to make it more... authentic? realistic? Either way.
I changed "Mental Stability" to "Sanity" to save room.
Sanity is blue and you want it filled up, Sickness is red and you want that empty.
The backpack image is for the inventory, the flashlight is to turn it on and off.
Anything I'm missing? I didn't really read through the whole thread yet but I was thinking of this the first time it was mentioned in the OT thread.
What do you guys think?

Pretty good. Could use actual parts of the camera around the camera part. You're holding it like a gun in an FPS, remember?
Since sickness is high, there should be slight blurring of the screen.
In my mind, I never really thought of there being an actual HUD, besides the camera. Sickness and mental stability could've been visualized by simple progression of the effects, instead of meters.
Don't mean to nitpick. It's not like I'm actually making it, so obviously there's room for change. Nice work.

No, no, it's fine. I was just going off of a rough idea and I want more ideas.
I've always liked the meter idea more than stages because meters... well they freak me out more. Watching it slowly climb higher or lower so you know Jay is freaking out in real time instead of the Sanity changing from one image to another.
This is around when the Operator was chasing Jay so I had the Sanity low and Sickness high, so there definitely should be shaking/blurring like you said. Kinda hard to do with a still image but I'll work something out.
The icons are just stand-in because I'm not very good with designing icons though I tried to get them to match as much as possible.
I'll look into a box for the camera view as well.
Should I keep doing random photoshops?

Shrunk down the icons a bit.
Added motion blur to both camera and real-time view.
Didn't know what to do with the meters quite yet (if I wanted to try out stages instead of meters).

I could see this as an expansion pack/DLC part of the game.
