 		Wow, now aint that very relevant? CIA is after Genus and Genus uses some encryption the sam as the CIA... that was a darn subtle hint there....

EDIT: OK, I'm still away so I can't try this theory out.... so I hope you guys get some progress on this...

EDIT 2 saturday:the VINEGAR code has been decrypted... (or rather "encrypted?")

I managed to crack it...

and with the settings:

- reverse keyword
- reverse alphabet
- put keyword on right

and the keyword is failtech and passphrase is orein

and instead of setting it to "decrypt" you actuallyhave to set it to "encrypt"

If you still haven't cracked the encrypted messages, fire away and I'll let the people here try their luck on them.


I replied telling about your decryption and that the others have yet to be cracked. I am waiting for the reply.

 		Holy crap! Great job! I think the other ciphers might not be vigenere. I think file was named vinegar, as it sounded like vigenere. The others might be something else...

We do think that the game site will be unaffected as we have already pulled out the entire site that has been hacked. We are still in the process of tracking down the code (seems to be well hidden) and who is responsible for this. While we're busy with that, you shouldn't worry about the pace of the game as it is unaffected (unless the game site is indeed affected, but we think not). This message was just sent as an advisory, and to make sure you are aware of the situation. We don't want you to be left out in the dark when something terribly wrong happens. Sorry for this, and we hope you don't loose any interest in continuing the FAILTECH ARG. FAILTECH ARG Team

Well, here's what he said. I'm not sure how that could help, so I guess I'll just wait for his code breaker tomorrow.

I hope he's right, and I hope that will help you speed up the process. The programmers are at work right now to create the solving program that will try to solve the encryption by brute-forcing them. Not very time-wise but surely we'll get some answers soon.

I'll update you again, soon if anything comes up.

 		Well loop has PAST and AHEAD in capital.

I'm pretty sure that quote could contain a pair also.

Also ITERATION could be a Gronsfield cipher since that uses a number instead of a keyword.

 		Great job Zeighy! I didn't have much time to work with them over the weekend, but I knew we were on the right track. Just have to figure out the right combination of keys and alphabet orders. I'll work on the rest of them some this morning and see if anything jumps out at me. Like Punxtr said, it's possible that they aren't vigenere ciphers. I think that the PM's would be very likely to use one of the ciphers on this tool page http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/ that we have referenced on here several times , so I'm going to stick with them for now.

 		Great Scott! This could get interesting! Everyone chime in on whether we want to try to contact him or not. I, for one, would prefer not to so that we can see what he was up to when he gets back. However, a part of me does want to see what would happen. It's so tempting!
