I know my email said mid-august. Pottermore and the blog associated with it (pottermore insider) have been very tight lipped about exact dates. I don't think anyone would know for sure that the 17th is the correct date. I think that's more a shot in the dark guess based on the "mid august" statement.

The thing is that it was a direct email from Sony itself regarding its more dedicated customers. Since Sony was a big partner with the Pottermore site, chances are they decided to give some of its customers a chance at filling up the left over spots from multiple accounts and such. Then again the actual beta testers/early access members might receive their welcome letters a few days before the Sony members who are interested can sign up.

I'd forgotten what my username was, so I went looking for a recovery page on the pottermore.com site. No such thing as far as I can see. I even submitted my e-mail address as a new registrant just to see if it would bounce back as an already registered addy, but (twice) it just told me they'd send me an e-mail once open registration was available.
Hm...I sure hope they clean up the website before millions of people start pouring in to play.

They have taken away the sign in button due to hackers apparently. That's what the word is on the blogosphere. That and they don't want people signing in just to sign in on the days when people actually start being let in for fear the servers couldn't handle it. I'm sure when you get your welcome email, it will have your account info in it (at least your username.) Or you will have the "I forgot my username/password" option at sign in since you won't be able to reach the sign in page without the email.

Ah, thanks for the info! I guess I was just being impatient. ^^; A friend of mine asked me what my username was and I couldn't remember, so...well, now you know...the rest of the story.

Well I guess we me and a friend might be out of the running. Never got that second email even though we both registered and validated or is there some people who never got it?

A lot of people didn't get them today. I think they went out in batches? Watching #pottermore on twitter it seems like only day one registrants received the second email today. I was a day one registrant, so that supports that theory, but who knows.

The only people I know who got their emails today were day 1 registrants. They're going in batches.

I know they started sending the emails to Under 13 year olds first, followed by the rest of Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. Some people from Day 4 got an email while some people from Day 1 and 3 still haven't received one. Also, the sign in button will appear once the site is open to the first few to get in.

Well I think the group i'm with has decided that most likely the quill was a mass screening for people, and now they're probably just choosing people from the early pre-registrants. I was wary of the clause that said even registering did not automatically give you an account. So seems I just have bad luck.
Well c'est la vie if so.

Yes, a bit like SWTOR early access.
I can confirm a day 3 registrant receiving the e-mail. I remember reading (probably on Wikipedia) that the first half of the clues and the second half would be separate in some way, not just in the clue difficulty. So I wonder how big a window will sit between the two halves' e-mails.
Still...I find it odd that the site doesn't keep record of addresses on file. Are there really that many!?

Well nevermind then. Seems the fixed it all up. Seems they've sent the rest of the emails to the Day 3 people (Just landed in my inbox.) So yeah at least that's a relief.

Just got this:
You have been selected for early entry into Pottermore!

I just got my e-mail too! I was kind of worried it would never come. lol
And...I was wondering, does anyone really know what Pottermore is? There doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there. I guess there doesn't really have to be; make official Harry Potter website, put Rowling's face on it, millions will sign up without hesitation.
