Has anyone tried this?

it seems like the instructions apply to two sets of words, because the instructions almost repeat themselves. But maybe not. Question

EDIT: TREKCINSTER ?

I'm trying it right now. Remember that another clue states the instructions don't have to be performed in order, but must be performed exactly once each. There are lots of possible combinations. I've written a program to do it for me, but it's just coming out with nonsense thus far.

That quotation is from Gunther Grass' The Tin Drum: On the morning of his third birthday, dressed in a striped pullover and patent leather shoes, and clutching his drumsticks and his new tin drum, young Oskar makes an irrevocable decision: "It was then that I declared, resolved, and determined that I would never under any circumstances be a politician, much less a grocer; that I would stop right there, remain as I was--and so I did; for many years I not only stayed the same size but clung to the same attire."

Except the instructions say to apply them in any order. I'm monkeying around with it some more.

On the stamps-

Some of the stamps are not cancelled. Put the person depicted on those in order to spell something out?

woodrow wilson(?) harry s truman(?)
uncle sam
(old green image)
annie oakley
bronco nagurski
nicholas copernicus
albert einstein
ulyses s grant
(some fat kid)

Is there a white stamp on the top row that's not cancelled? Has the name Carl in it. I can't tell if that's cancelled or not.
