Link failed.

Anyway, "Ow Game" (or was it city?) strikes me as oddest.

From what I see it looks like this (going to capitalize letters that seem to have emphasis on them).

For The YouNG at HEART
IN THE CITY OF Ow GAME

Then the next one is...

KAREN'S DiARY

Link works now.

You have to take style into account though. It's not unreasonable to assume that's where the lines would go most neatly, not that it's an overt clue. Plus, Karen did the crayon, someone else did the ink. We should worry more about that someone else.

As I said though, it's just what seems to look emphasized. I realize with handwriting that's extremely hard to tell. It could very well be meant for the entirety of "heart" and "ow game" to be underlined. We don't and at this moment can't exactly know for sure. In any case, "Ow Game" definitely piques my curiosity.

 TEH Dishwasher

Seems the goal is Derek's survival pitted against Jester's countless opportunities to torture him/drive him mad. The probability of Derek impulsively tossing all his clothing into a washer to be 1) shredded by some malfunction, 2) stolen while they were drying & he was sleeping or 3) forced to wear wet & die from exposure when Jester purposely left his cabin door open seemed too high to risk. Mentioning this now as am time-zone challenged and likely won't be here when it arrives so.....

Guess there's a choice to either feed into Derek's increasing instability or cowgirl-up and guide him into testing the dishwasher with some non-essential item then washing & drying (which dishwashers do) each piece of his clothing separately. Zeus knows what Jester's "amusing" idea of a clothes/dishwasher is anyway.

ETA: Re the printing noted by Ashe, "0w" is the "space" symbol in Base36. Noting b/c there was a prev Base32 clue tho it may just form an anagram with that crayon

We should wait to see the rest of the diary before thinking too much about the crayon underlining. If this was written 30 years ago, then the Jester either has been planning this for a long time, or just happened to find the one 6 year old's diary who coincidentally underlined a ROT-13 cipher while she was going.

Though, purposes of the game, I'd be willing to suspend disbelief, but that the inked page is the only one she labeled as a clue, we should start there.

There probably isn't, it was just an example. If there is a code, we'd likely have to see more pages anyway.

Anyone think that maybe this was Jester putting a title to a diary already made? or making one up for his purposes? I mean, he and the rest of the puppets already made blogs. Why not diaries? Aren't they somewhat along the same lines?

Maybe, most 6 year olds don't name themselves "Karen B.". But it's hilarious to think he was using a Crayola 12 pack when he had a perfectly good pen on the previous page.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
E-Ty-Fi-Th-O—Fi-Th-Fit-Fo—Et-S-E-TO-Fit—FO-Et-TTh-Fit—Tw-Ft-Fit-Fi-Se

New blog post by derek. Trying work out some substitution code on it...

Edit--There are en-dashes and em-dashes. The em-dashes most likely break each word, and act as a space; the en-dashes break up the numbers so you can decode the proper letter for the word. This may require the Book of Leaves again.

Edit2--I substituted each letter with its case-sensitive number equivalent for base64 (separated by word):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
E-Ty-Fi-Th-O—Fi-Th-Fit-Fo—Et-S-E-TO-Fit—FO-Et-TTh-Fit—Tw-Ft-Fit-Fi-Se

4-19,50-5,34-14

5,34-19,33-5,34,45-5,4

4,45-18-4-19,14-5,34,45

5,14-4,45-19,19,33-5,34,45

19,48-5,45-5,34,45-5,34-18,30

Maybe that could help someone. I'm sort of busy.

Rest of diary is up.

There's one thing I spot, and it's what looks like the number nine on the drawing of the forest. Heh. It COULD be the page number, but why only write it on one page?

Also, looked at underlined words and capital letters, didn't find anything peculiar. Maybe someone else can.

Diary hidden message
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the last page with the quote from Mister Motley, the first letter of each word spells out "Hello Grace".

For Derek's doggie code...

Partial solve
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ok so each small piece of code represents a number (e.g. E = 8 and Ty = 20). I then converted each number to a letter then unscrambled to get a partial message.

E-Ty-Fi-Th-O—Fi-Th-Fit-Fo—Et-S-E-TO-Fit—FO-Et-TTh-Fit—Tw-Ft-Fit-Fi-Se
8-20-5-3-1----5-3-15-4----18-6-5-21-15----4-18-23-15----2-14-15-5-7
H-T-E-C-A----E-C-O-D----R-F-H-U-O----D-R-W-O----B-N-O-E-G
CHEAT CODE FOUR(T)H WORD ?????

I am guessing there's a missing T to make "fourth". I can't make anything out of that last set of letters so either there's another mistake in the code or I messed something up (eyes are blurry at this point). I am going to send Derek a message on his blog to double check the code to see if there are any errors in his transcription.
