Talkking about the forst guy? He looks like Castro. Who says these stamps are US only?

Bottom row to the right of Einstein. That's Robert E Lee. Don't know why I thought Grant as well. Definitely Lee.

Quote Ralen
Quote:
For the fly DNA puzzle I'm almost 100% certain on all of these except for possibly CLOWN and TIN. The quote was from the book "Tin Drum" and there is a mutation called "Tin Man" (because the mutation has no heart, like the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz).

I have the abbreviated name first, and the full name in parentheses.

couldn't steal second instar: MGE (MAGGIE)
string was a lethal combo: NOOSE
mmmmm... Salt.: LOT
0 gravity: YURI

??? "That I would stop right there, remain as I was": TIN (TINMAN) ???
Where is my denticle belt?: DISC (DISCO)
Shake! Shake! Shake! zzzzzzz: EAG (ETHER A-GO-GO)

Trapped in my egg: AMON (AMONTILLADO)
Eye'm melting! Eye'm melting!: CLN (CLOWN)
"I'm not dead yet!": INDY
daddy broke my legs: VLC (VULCAN)
lost my head: DAEH

For CLN I had LQF (liquid facets)... The main problem is it doesn't spell anything obvious though

Ah, I thought you were going to edit that posting to update this stuff which is why I pointed that out again (or maybe you did but it's cached or something for me).

I've been working on this one too.. but only got it working backwards from the genes that I could fill in. Ralen's post provided the last ones I needed Smile This puzzle leads to:

http://transmit.ilovebees.com/outbound/only_one_alive.wav

Now we just have to work backwards and figure out what the right genes are...

bah you got it first, I was going to try a number of possible words that work with ? ? alive
Smile

ah well...

for those of you asking, I'm usually the one keeping up the fireflies page... I was unfortunately kept in a very important meeting and had to catch up... I've logged all the info so far, and I'll post it in a second, with the fireflies wiki page to follow...

only a few more clues left.

funnily enough, this meeting was indirectly due to the lack of work I've been doing over the past couple of weeks... *cough* stupid ILB

Yeah his post is out of date. He still hasn't fixed Yarrow. He still has it listed in the wrong image.

SOLVED PUZZLES

1. DARWIN PUZZLE

BUT_FUN.gif
Dear Charles,

Concerning your manuscript,
we are having some difficulty
with your quaint notion of tiny
adhesive notes. Without an un-
forseen degree of improvement,
they will remain far more
irritating than useful. The
editor begs you to simply
rewrite the pages at issue using
full sheets. This will ensure the
best possible outcome for the
upcoming print of you brilliant
opus.

In the meanwhile, I am returning
to you these notes, which have
become detached from the
manuscript pages. Our clerks
have remained unable, or in
some cases, unwilling, to
discern obfuscated or corrupted
phrases and to reconstruct their
chronology. If you would be so
kind...
