I'm not sure who he's referring to here...perhaps since it's us sending him pictures, he can't see us if we don't send them?

Regardless, this kid knows how to put on a guilt-trip. 'Did I do something wrong?' I feel terrible for not sending pictures right now.

Sent him a picture I admitted to finding online. If you're theory holds true I wonder if he can "see" me if I sent him a picture someone else took.

Who can't see who anymore?

I feel like I just got a bizarre break up letter.

I dunno. I might just sit on this for a moment. Maybe we should run back through the clues?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Is there balm in Gilead to heal the wounds I've wrought?
Or will they ever stay to further ends I never sought?

Will contact again soon. Will tell you everything. No more secrets. I can't do this alone, and I can't allow you to offer help to it, blind to what it actually is.

That verse sounds familiar, but all I came up with was references to Jeremiah 8:22. But the verse seems to be popular for paraphrasing, and the biblical verse doesn't match up exactly either (even accounting for context and variation of translation). Sounds familiar.

So yeah. Got nothing else to offer. I recommend we hold on the emails until we get the revelation.

...no pun intended.

Balm of Gilead is both a soothing balm made from tree resin and a type of tree. It's mentioned in The Raven. Goes along with his desperate need for pictures, since they seem to be offering relief of some kind. I wonder what would happen if we sent a picture of that kind of tree. I'm anxious to get in on this, but I'll wait for the OK here.

Incidentally, balm of Gilead was very valuable in Biblical times, and came from En Gedi, which is/was an oasis. It's also known as myrrh, which is one of the three gifts the Magi gave Jesus when he was 2.

Edit: I was sorely disappointed to realize that all of this info was easily found on Wikipedia. And here I thought my fundie roots and Biblical knowledge were finally going to be useful...

I would still say that they were.

I am not sure about sending a picture. He's been pretty clear that we shouldn't...

Judging from the last paragraph, the person who doesn't want us to send pictures will explain everything about what happened and why we shouldn't send them.

I am leaning towards "Jack is Slenderminion" theory for now, but we shall see soon enough.

I sent a message for the Jack and "Jill", before message 4 popped up.

One little section, I asked about the neighbor, wondering if he had gone to any landmarks or places on his trip.

I segwayed into travelling and how i can't speak different languages, and i imitated the difficulty of other languages, sending him a code asking "what happens now after we've stopped giving him pictures, and why do you request pictures and then tell us in code to stop?"

then i finished off casually, promising that when my camera is fixed I'll send him some more pictures(lied).

I hope i get some sort of reply, if not from Jack then from Jill.

Thanks. Yeah, I got excited about sending in some pics yesterday, but I'm glad I read the whole thread first. I'll just watch and add what I can to the discussion till another opportunity to jump in presents itself. In the meantime, I'm @tijde.

A species of the Balm of Gilead poplar tree (called Japanese or Maximowicz' poplar) is native to mountainous regions of Japan. Couldn't find a direct connection to Aokigahara, but they do grow in that part of Japan, if my Googlefu isn't off.

While looking for confirmation, I stumbled across this, supposedly a story from a Forest Ranger about taking a group of Americans into Aokigahara:
Quote:
We where walking into the forest for a few mins when one of the women started screaming and pointing up at a tree saying she could see a body. At first, i was looking around the usual height one would expect to see a hanged body, but there was nothing there. I told her to please calm down as there was no body, but she was still pointing upwards, so i looked up to this really tall tree and there it was, a body. It was hung from the trees, it must have been 50 fucking feet high. He was completley naked and from the look of it, quite fresh, the ground below wasn't stained with clothes or body matter.
The strange thing was there was absolutley no way to get that high up, the usual type of trees are very thin, very tall and hardly any branches to climb, yet his body was suspended so high in this large tree. I was really mindfucked as to how he got up there.

The page is here. Sounds familiar so I'm guessing it's creepypasta- or Slender-related fiction, but I don't have time to confirm that right now. Coincidental, but nice and creepy nonetheless.

I keep thinking of them as Jack and Pennyjack, thanks to that pic a few pages back.
