Did anything happen at 10:43/10:35/10:30 am on 9/11? Do we know what time the first Cloudmakers post on 'solving 9/11' was made? Seems an odd time to end the clock and seems odd to do it on local time. Maybe significant?

"Around 10:00 AM, NAV CANADA, on the order of the Minister of Transport, directed its operational facilities to initiate a ground stop of all traffic. The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), issued to pilots at 10:43 AM (all times EDT) read: "Due to extraordinary circumstances and for reasons of safety, all departure services from NAV CANADA served aerodromes are ceased effective immediately. Due to closures of U.S. airports and airspace all National Traffic will be recovered in Canada."

According to CNN, all US military forces will be ordered to the highest alert level at 10:10 a.m. (see (10:10 a.m.) September 11, 2001). [CNN, 9/4/2002] But the 9/11 Commission Report will state that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld only orders the US armed forces to Defcon 3, an increased state of readiness, at 10:43 a.m. (see (10:43 a.m.) September 11, 2001). [9/11 Commission, 7/24/2004, pp. 326 and 554] The State Department will tell US embassies to make the decision whether to close based on their own local security requirements. Around 50 US embassies or consulates around the world will therefore close, though at what time they do so is unstated. [US Department of State, 9/12/2001]

According to the 9/11 Commission, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld makes the decision to go to Defcon Three, the "highest alert for the nuclear arsenal in 30 years." [ABC News, 9/11/2002] His decision is broadcast on the air threat conference call. Then, according to the Commission, "A minute later, Secretary Rumsfeld spoke to the Vice President, and he asked Rumsfeld to run the issue by the President. At 10:45 conferees were told to 'hold off' on Defcon 3, but a minute later the order was reinstated. Rumsfeld believed the matter was urgent and, having consulted [Defense Department] directives, concluded he had the authority to issue the order and would brief the President. Rumsfeld briefed the President on the decision at 11:15." [9/11 Commission, 7/24/2004, pp. 326 and 554] According to other accounts, the US military is put on high alert about 35 minutes earlier than the 9/11 Commission states (see (10:10 a.m.) September 11, 2001).

Wow, ok. I meant something more specific to the Cloudmakers than just a general 9/11 question. I'm sure a lot of things happened at that time on that day but accounts will vary wildly and it would be too difficult to narrow down which event is significant without further guidance. Although if that part about going to Defcon 3 at 10:43am is true that's an interesting factoid.

But as I said, I meant does anyone know of anything happening at 10:43 which is more to do with the Cloudmakers?

ETA: Nothing on the original Cloudmakers message boards that was posted at or around 10:43 am. Looks like that was a dead end. But I can't help thinking this time is/will be important. But that's just speculation.

Hmmm...we should try to figure out how to get access to that blogspot blog. There must be a way to find the owner.

My current suspicion (?) is that it'll magically open up when the counter is finished.

Hi,

Just wanted to say I've been watching this one. Seems interesting... not sure what to think yet. Did all the background reading about the CMs from the PDF posted. So I guess the countdown ends sometime on Sunday?

Will keep a watch on it.

Good to see this is starting to get interesting. Have you tried to use the hotmail address to access a blogger account? Maybe we can open/read the blog since it seems relevant to the backstory of this.

I'm wondering if there's any significance to the people who've received the invite to play so far. Labfly, Jenni, and Morbus, do you know of anything you all have in common?

That we've all been around for a long time?

Or have been involved as "more than a player" in the field?

That seems about right. With the backstory of the game, it would make sense for experienced Cloudmakers to reach out to experienced ARG players/makers to help them solve the puzzle...hence why we'd be the first to be offered clues.

There's many who've been around as long or longer, but not all have been BTS or PMs, is that what you mean by "more than a player"?

I've PMed and am also a journalist who has covered quite a few ARGs, so in my case, yes that is what I would mean. Morbus might have meant differently.

I doubt Morbus, Labfly, and myself are the only ones tapped so it may be too early to work out the connection.
