Nice job. I forgot that I was going to try anagrams of the first letter of the last name.

Hmm.. looks like no anagram needed. It's in the correct order on the fireflies page. Just use Uncle as Sam's last name. Razz

I haven't had a chance to read this thread and I didn't get a chance to look at the puzzles till an hour ago, then I had to stop for a bit to get some work done while I listened to clips. Anyway, thebruce's summary of people on the stamps had this list:

Quote:
Philo Farnsworth
Uncle Sam
Carl Sandburg
Washington Irving
Annie Oakley
Bronco Nagurski
Nicholas Copernicus
Albert Einstein
Robert E. Lee
Jack London

so obviously the answer is going to be fusion cell, even without having to think about it. In case you can't see that, look at the last letters of surnames: FSSIONCELL (presumably uncle sam is wrong or for him "uncle" counts as the last name). They were even in order! *shrug* I'd presume that they'd be in date order or somesuch (they would be if I'd written the puzzle).

Ok, so for the book puzzle, it seems clear to me that this is probably a movement type puzzle.

Train -> 0911382046 = Railroad: What it is, What it does, 4th edition by John H Armstrong
Bus -> 0789493837 = London: Eyewitness Travel Guides by Michael Leapman
Horse -> 0380810565 = National Velvet by Enid Bagnold

Foot -> 0761101861 = Beauty: The New Basics by Rona Berg
Dog -> 0764150979 = Barron's Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds by D. Caroline Colie, Michele Earle-Bridges
Car -> 0060956704 = Giant (Perennial Classics) by Edna Ferber and Stuart M Rosen

(look at the book covers). I have to go do some more work so someone finish it off for me Smile *ducks and runs*

i also noticed that all the books have a sub-heading.

0911382046 = Railroad: What it is, What it does, 4th edition by John H Armstrong
0789493837 = London: Eyewitness Travel Guides by Michael Leapman
0380810565 = National Velvet: The classic story of a girl and her horse by Enid Bagnold

0761101861 = Beauty: The New Basics by Rona Berg
0764150979 = Barron's Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds: profiles of 150 breeds by D. Caroline Colie, Michele Earle-Bridges
0060956704 = Giant (Perennial Classics) by Edna Ferber and Stuart M Rosen

...dont know if that helps
