Hi there; long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

It didn't occur to me till I read this post that each group of letters might represent a word. I had assumed that the letters were chopped into equal sections, like the WW2 Enigma ciphers which were put into 5-letter groups (eg "DTTZD TQYZT KLEIG").

But these 'words' are 10, then 13, then 12 letters long. Can we think of any phrases that might look like that? Might be worth trying one of those crossword solvers to see if we can find a list of words that are 13 letters long.

One ten-letter word does leap to mind: 'slenderman'...

That is an interesting hypothesis. It would make it a cryptogram cipher then. There is only one problem with this, especially using "Slenderman". While it would fit the 1st set of letter's which are 10 character's in length, ALMOST, but it doesn't. Here is the reason why.

LHNVRNVXDT
SLENDERMAN

N in the code becomes E in the 3rd and 7th position but there is a problem with 2 N's in Slenderman. V in the 4th position and T in the last position. Just my .02. Good idea though MissCellany.

Well, lets see if assuming that gets us anywhere.

LHNVRNVXDT TCKARVZZDFSPD AQMVSZCWWCGH
SLENDERMAN

Hmm. Don't think so. Unless both V's and T's represent N's.

I'm trying to figure it out with an Autokey cipher, but codes and encryption are not my strong suit...anyone care to help? I'm pretty much going letter by letter at this point to figure it out.

tried A, got this: LWVQRWRYHU BRXDUHQRWVDIH BRXUWLPHLVXS
tried T, got this: SDCXYDYFOB IYEKBOXYDCKPO IYEBDSWOSCEZ
tried S, got this: TEDYZEZGPC JZFLCPYZEDLQP JZFCETXPTDFA

Just gonna start running through the whole alphabet. Can't hurt, right?

I don't think this is going to help anything, but I did manually convert the letters into numerals:

LHNVRNVXDT: 12 8 14 22 18 14 22 24 4 20
(common factor: 2, doesn't help)

TCKARVZZDFFSPD: 20 3 11 1 18 22 26 26 4 6 19 16 4
(no common factor in forward or reverse)

AQMVSZCWWCGH: 1 17 13 22 19 26 3 23 23 3 7 8
(Lots of prime numbers here, no common factors)

I got it!

I googled an autokey cipher tool and entered started entering random letters as they key. When I entered D, this is what I got:

Before Dahlia was born, I started college classes, 15 credits online, just to prove to everyone I could be a good parent and continue my education. I was doing online homework, balancing my laptop on my belly while I was in the hospital and beginning labor. I worked 45 hours a week, staying late at work til 2AM, coming home and doing homework, and I was lucky to get 2-4 hours of sleep. You think I'd be used to functioning on very little rest, but somehow my former "super mom" status has failed me and I succumbed to sleep a few hours ago.
The scene my subconscious played out was worse than the others. I feel physically ill.
Here is my latest nightmare: I was out in Greencastle trying to find Amy. Getting to her house is an excruciating process, the woods are thick, there are numerous sharp turns without warning, and the roads are made of gravel and broken concrete. I am a timid driver, so the journey is already grating on my nerves. The car dies, just a little past Hell's Gate, which puts me on high alert. I never liked Hell's Gate, even from the safety of my car.
I walked the rest of the distance to Amy's house, hopping to use her mother's phone to call AAA. There is no way to get cell phone reception out there. The beautiful garden that once made Amy's house seem warm and inviting was dried up and dead. Even the little pond that served as a home to over a dozen tadpoles was dried up, the bottom littered with their little dried out corpses.
I let myself inside and knew something was wrong. Trails of blood were all over the house, the wood stove was roaring with fire, and the porcelain and fine china was broken all over the carpet. I called out for Lori, Amy's mom, and received no response.
I made my way into Amy's little room, stunned to see the once disaster of a room perfectly spotless. The J-Rock posters from her highschool days were neatly laid on the bed and the walls were stark white. As odd as I found this, the most disturbing part was the noose hanging from the ceiling fan, slowly spinning with the blades of the fan. One of the trails of blood led beneath the bed, and though my every instinct told me not to look under there, I did.
There was a bloody hammer and a cardboard box. My heart raced. When I left Amy at her mom's last month, one of the five cats had given birth to 4 kittens. We used a cardboard box to put them in. I couldn't bring myself to check if they were inside.
I rushed through the house, searching for any sign of Lori or Amy. There was nothing, just an eerie stillness about the place. I went out onto back porch and saw the 5 cats that occupied the porch in a heap of blood and fur. I gagged at the sight and side stepped the gruesome display, making my way into the backyard and looping around beneath the porch where the old basement was at.
Amy's basement is something out of a horror movie. A single poorly constructed wood door attached to the concrete and a rusted lock block off what would otherwise be a gaping hole in the basement. I pulled the open lock off and slipped as soon as I set foot inside, flailing wildly to keep from falling.
"Nice of you to join us!" Amy exclaimed from the corner of the room. She is utterly filthy, her hair matted and her skin stained with dirt and dried blood. "I'm happy you came for my birthday!"
I look to my right and Lori is sprawled on the ground, her once blonde hair matted and red from blood. The back of her head was completely caved in and a pink party hat rested on next to the wound.
"What did you do?" I screamed at her, checking Lori for a pulse but I knew there would be nothing. It smelled like death in that basement.
"Treeguy is here, I told him you were coming," she said, pointing to a large hole in the basement that led to a smaller room.
The door slammed shut behind me and engulfed the basement in darkness. The old lockers down there that had once been her grandfathers all started to rattle. I felt along the walls to find where Amy was, panicked and yelling at her to find me. I knew it was in there with us, the tall monster, but I couldn't see him.
Amy grabbed my hand in the darkness. "Let's go!" I screamed, my voice more shrill than I ever imagined it could get.
She pressed my hand to her belly and I can hear her giggling. She presses harder and suddenly my hand felt warm and sticky, surrounded by something. I froze in place. The door swung open, allowing the little light from the day to seep in and illuminate the room. I see the tall monster standing next to Lori and I panicked, pulling my hand away from Amy.
She began cackling, that laugh she would get when we would make bad jokes in the car, and I looked down at my hand. It was covered in blood. When I looked back to her, her own hands were soaked in fresh blood, a gaping wound running vertically from her xiphoid process to the top of her mud stained jeans. Her entrails were hanging out, held in by her hands.
Her laughter turned into a screaming laughter so loud it rang in my ears, buzzing in my head so loudly I thought it would explode.c2hlc2dvbmUNCnNvb255b3V3aWxsYmV0b28NCmRvbnR0aGlua2l0c292ZXINCm5ld2V5ZXMNCm5ld3NpZ2h0DQo=
That's when I woke up. I've had a pounding headache all day. My heart still hasn't stopped racing.

Second Dream Log, posted a while ago.

So, besides that rather disturbing dream, we get this following code:

The string of letters is rot13.

Edit: The numbers and letters are base 64.

Edit 2: Recommended a few things to help with the stress she's under because maybe the dreams are being caused by stress (yeah, right). Should we warn her about the codes?

Edit 3: Link to what a [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiphoid_process]Xiphoid process[url] is.

I guess that makes sense, because at the beginning of the first dream log she misspells find as "fin".

GREAT work... I would have never thought to just randomly enter letters but it worked.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
IMHO, Amy and TJ are doing some great work on the codes in this series. QR codes, and now an Autokey cipher that took us almost 3 days to figure out. Gotta give Kudo's to these 2.

Analysis of latest set of coded messages

OK. So we have the following messages from the broken codes. I will type them out with what I think is the intended punctuation and appropriate syntax to make them easier to read.

1st Dream Log code translation:

It's not over. You are not safe. Your time is up.

2nd Dream Log with 2 codes:

1st code translation:
You don't understand the importance of your mistake.

2nd code translation:
She's gone.
Soon you will be too.
Don't think it's over.
New eyes.
New sight.

My only question is the "mistake" being referenced in the first code in the 2nd Dream Log. I am wondering if it refer's to TJ leaving Amy with her mother, or if it has something to do with Dahlia.

Or if her plan to go get Amy is the mistake.
