Is an online group of scans from the book, and quick links to its info on the plants.

They're not all from there, I've been through Volumes 1, 2, 3 and the standalone vol. 4 Sad

Of course, I've probably missed something

Hate to burst your bubble, McDonaldHeard, and anyone else who things "Halfway through the hearing-glass" is connected to the books.. that (from muses.gif) was actually supposed to be used in conjunction with the audio file embedded.

The wav had two channels, one of which had to be reverse. (Half way through the hearing-glass, ie one channel, and hearing-glass is an obvious allusion to the looking-glass, in other words a mirror)

Once the right channel is reversed, (was it the left or right that was reversed? I can't remember), the resulting sounds are morse code that spell out new_chicken.

Unlucky for us, the clever people who pulled apart figured that out before even looking at the hint. That really needs to be taken off the wiki as "unsolved".

Google may not grab everything, I may have missed them, but I looked through the google image site search earlier & didn't see them.

Here is a list of the scanned books.

I have gone through:
Description des plantes rares cultivées à Malmaison et à Navarre / par Aimé Bonpland.
Traité des arbres forestiers : ou histoire et description des arbre indigènes ou naturalisés…
Köhler's Medizinal-Pflanzen in naturgetreuen Abbildungen mit kurz erläuterndem Texte : Atlas zur Pharmacopoea germanica, by Köhler, F. E. (Franz Eugen) Volumes 1-3, 4

Summary of botany puzzle so far (confirmed plants only)

beewithh wrote:

quinine - for the treatment of - Malaria
papyrus - written on in - Egypt
Madder - yields the color - Red

smoker wrote:

Dandilion -medicinal action - Diuretic
Ipecacuanha - medicinal action - Emetic
Eyebright - in the treatment of - Hayfever/Conjunctivitis/Sinusitis
Pennyroyal - to induce - Menstruation/Perspiration/Sweating/Childbirth/Labour
Yarrow - commonly known as - Yarrow, things beginning in S, O

I think spunkinator was on the right track when he said eyebright isn't used to treat eyes.. although it is good for them. Normally you treat a disorder. "in the treatment of eyes" doesn't seem right to me.

We do need to go back and look at if we have some of these wrong, though. I do know that we have Peruvian Bark wrong on fireflies...it should be quinine.

The thing is, PM's might be expecting us to find the books and reference against those things they edited into the picture?

Peruvian Bark is correct. Quinine is the extract, AFAIK.

beewithh top center could be goldenrod... not sure what it would be superseded by, though?
