They have to be mentioning the specific book titles for a reason. Are these books supposed to teachh him more about his situation? Give him food for thought so he doesn't go insane? Why those titles though?

I've been looking over the lonesome artist's page, and there has to be more to him. why did he only show up now, and why are the clues so fragmented (and obviously he is an unreliable narrator, even the jester got mad at him for nearly screwing up our clue)?

Also, any ideas on that picture from book saying "your blood knows me?"

Trying to brainstorm before grace makes it to Graceland.

Edit: Wow, look at that. Grace made it to Graceland RIGHT AFTER I said that. Epic timing. http://lookingforderek.blogspot.com/2011/08/all-shook-up.html

Second edit: Neville is the Vagabond.

Third edit: i think I solved the second word of the cheat code:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the second word is 'great.' The lonesome artist posted the second word of the cheat code was five letters long, and it corresponds with the haiku. alexander the 'great' and the stock market crash = the 'great' depression, and he who loved daisy= gatsby loved daisy buchanan, the book Derek is reading is the 'great' gatsby.

3 missing, it's either a matchstick game, or those lines form letters, right? Has anyone seen a code like this?

Never.

I hope 42 was the answer to the riddle. I haven't heard anything back yet. Goodnight.

I agree with Dia about the second code word. It makes more sense with the other words to me and as a solution it makes more sense as well.

Good night! (Did he say he was giving us a day or two days?)

This is the image, it's bigger than I thought.

It could be a barcode, but it doesn't look like enough lines.

Ashe came up with the idea of fifteen lines being a song. All shook up is an elvis presley song. Neville mentioned "1973. See the pattern, find the pattern. Stars, lights, moon, dreams"

We think we know what it is.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In 1973, Elvis held a music concert titled "aloha from hawaii" (which by the way is fifteen letters long) via satellite, which corresponds with the stars lights moon and dreams part of the clues. I would also like to mention the fact that while he was rehearsing for the concert, "elvis on tour" was nominated for a Golden Globe, which I'm beginning to suspect might be the answer to the riddle. "These great big golden _____" Just a thought. But basically, I think Grace needs to go to Hawaii.

Thanks for posting Dia.

Mind you, this is all just suspicion, feel free to throw out any other ideas.

If you're wondering how I thought it looked like a song, I can show the image with the way I edited it?

Ah! Your blood knows me!

If Grace and Derek are related to Ruggiero Magro, then he (their bloodline? Is Karen their mom? Is her brother their dad?) certainly knows the Wooden Girl.

Nope. Karen didn't have a middle name and her mom was Sophia.

New clue:

"the mystery of the misfits said...

3 are missing

purloined they were"

People change their names all the time though. And Grace has also shot the word Karen down every chance she's gotten, even said it meant nothing to her after telling Derek House of Leaves was a good book and Karen is a main character. I mean, you could be right, but I still feel our heroine is hiding something very big.

The next clue might be in Baltimore. Also, I never realized what a fan of cryptography Poe was.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Two of Poe's stories have been referenced in the latest Misfit clue, The Purloined Letter, and The Mystery of Marie Rogêt, two of his three Dupin detective stories. It's 3 am and I've realized I've been staring at lines to try to make them make sense, so I'm probably reaching, but I think Iambic Pentameter deals in 15s, or three 5s. I don't have my big book of Poe poems, so I haven't gotten a chance to look through them for a 15 line or whatever one yet. I think Baltimore is where he died.

I love Poe. You could call me a fanatic if you will. The only poem he every wrote with 15 lines that would fit this format is "To Helen". I checked my copy of his completed works just to make sure. I also found a copy online of said poem here.
http://www.online-literature.com/poe/578/

It looks in the picture as though the three lines that are missing are first group line 2 and second group line 2 and 3. So...
Quote:

Like those Nicean barks of yore

Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
Thy Naiad airs have brought me home

Would be the lines.

And yes, Poe died in Baltimore and is also buried there. Though if we're going with Poe there are many places you could send her.
The Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site, in Philadelphia, where he lived 1843–1844.
The Poe House and Museum, in Baltimore, which is the earliest surviving home he lived in.
The Horse You Came In On, a bar in Fells Point, Baltimore which is still standing where Poe was last seen drinking before his death.
The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage, in the Bronx, New York, which was his final home.

My guess would also be Baltimore though. The Poe House is also the home of the Edgar Allan Poe Society. I'd send her there.

Edit: Dupin also shows up in The Murders in the Rue Morgue so that makes 3 of Poe's stories he shows up in total.
I see Dottoe noticed that, but still... 3 are missing?

Considering the earthquake yesterday looks like Grace's blog title "All Shook Up" could also signify somewhere in the Baltimore area mentioned above.
Maybe the misfits clue of 'mystery/3 are missing' is connected to Poe's annual mysterious Graveside visitor, now known as The Missing Poe Toaster?
Coffee Always knew I'd sleep thru The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything & Dia Renalda, "great" fits in....aha, really great.

Right, go away for a bit and miss a lot. It's fun to read up and watch great minds in action Smile

On the lines:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If its Morse, by adding three strokes

- .-- (.)- / (.)(-) .- / ..--..

you can get

- .-- .- / . - .- / ..--..

TWA ETA?

If that holds up, she must fly to the next stop? Dia could be on it.
