Dear Friends:

Someone said you could help with our investigation, check out our wiki at: http://verusinvestigations.wikispaces.com/
and see if it's a good fit for you.

I got the above email as well and couldn't help but think "Seriously?!? This *has* to be an ARG, because nobody in their right mind would do this in real life... Right? ...Right?!?"

Plato's Cave was one of those games that wouldn't leave me alone with content even though I never actually "played" it and never had any idea what was going on in it. Guess I'm still on their mailing list...

I see the AR part of this, but where is the game? I'll be watching this one.

New email

Received an email from Christina Helen Ross:

I suspect this has to do with our investigations. Because it came from an anonymous source addressed to me not to VI, someone wanted to inform me (us) without knowing who s/he is and didn't want to involve VI?

VI One Time Use Only
We few we happy few we band of brothers for he today that sheds his blood with me

How it fits into the scheme of things, I don't know. But it was important enough to send to me! Plus that cryptic remark about
"One Time..."

I'm completely in the dark!

-- Chris

The "One Time" make me think of one-time pad crypto, but I tend to over think things.

Trueplay posted this on the wiki page for the case with the title 'strange cipher'

Quote:
trueplay Today 4:33 pm

This was sent to us anonymously. We can't make heads or tails of it:

bmydo imzsxdl beo ps eephwaf kvx aiijtfzzxl wqtm moigcprj zl est l fsdh bkhuxor

Do you know how to solve it?

It's from Shakespeare

The Shakespeare part of reference:

Quote:
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Stripped of spaces =

wefewwehappyfewwebandofbrothersforhetodaythatshedshisbloodwithme
64 letters

and the encrypted:
bmydoimzsxdlbeopseephwafkvxaiijtfzzxlwqtmmoigcprjzlestlfsdhbkhuxor
66 letters

remove the last two letters = or from the encrypted and both are 64 and the or reminds me of XOR (one time)

Code:
wefewwehappyfewwebandofbrothersforhetodaythatshedshisbloodwithme
bmydoimzsxdlbeopseephwafkvxaiijtfzzxlwqtmmoigcprjzlestlfsdhbkhux

I have to leave for the night but hopefully this will help someone else?

Will try if not solved tomorrow.

I was led to believe you could solve this cipher for us:

bmydo imzsxdl beo ps eephwaf kvx aiijtfzzxl wqtm moigcprj zl est l fsdh bkhuxor

Must've been a different person. Sorry to bother you!

It's not Caeser shift; I know that much. I'm guessing vigenere... Due to the "ee" word start, I imagine it's not a straight replace.

On another note, I'm kind of thankful that companies don't really work like they do in ARGs. If they did, civilization would have ended decades ago... Wink

We were almost there...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Vigenere, key is "wefewwehappyfewwebandofbrothersforhetodaythatshedshisbloodwithmeaa"

Phrase:

fitzs mission was to deceive the terrorists into thinking he was a real traitor

You beat me to it! Cool! Yes, Vigenere running key. I got the same thing. (Yes I'm supposed to be somewhere else but it suddenly hit me and well)

That was quick, I've never used a code like that before, very cool.

The wiki is where he wants the answer, are you joined with them or do you need me to add it?
