Not trying to break immersion here but the below rant is COMPLETELY OOG:

HOLY CRAP!!! I make a simple little comment about the "calm before the storm" when she tweeted about picking up Amy and that <shiver> video shows up. I am still getting cold tingles (and NOT the good ones) down my spine. It almost makes me not want to comment about this series anymore even though I have so far enjoyed it.

As for the taste of the video, I only have this to say. The girls have been known to use real life in their vids. Reading their OOG blog AND watching some of their OOG "behind-the-scenes" vids you do find out that they already have "wierd" shit going on around them when they are doing the filming. They have been doing well so far though in blending that "gray" area into their filming which is what has made this whole series SO creepy for me.

The dog shooting though, IMHO, BETTER be tied into this series somehow or I wil officially call "SHENANIGANS" and say that they have "jumped the shark". I do understand the viewpoint though of their location of being somewhat isolated. Amy's mother's house has been shown to be quiet isolated earlier in the series and I can see them having to react this way to a possibly rabid, feral dog. Filming it on the other hand and cracking jokes is another thing. I hold further judgement on this series pending what comes of this latest vid. and what the girls have to say about it.

<shivers> DAMN!! This one is gonna give me nightmares.

ENOUGH.

Seriously. This is out of game and entirely irrelevant to the story. If you want to continue discussing and debating this, take it to another thread.

I think it may be relevant later on, because from my understanding, they have their own OOG accounts to put stuff on, but.. *shrug* thats all from me

Heya Cougar,

I don't understand how it's irrelevant to the story if the girls are the ones who decided to make it a part of the story? If they legitimately filmed a dog being shot and uploaded it as an installment in their series, emotions are understandably going to run high.

If it's going to give you nightmares then how could it have jumped the shark?

You are correct about that last bit. But here's the thing. What happened was not illegal. It is not against YouTube's policies. I checked. If it gets taken down, it's because people who I won't name decided that their own sensibilities were offended enough to attempt to prevent other people from viewing this video.

Just for the record: being offended is never an acceptable reason to censor someone else's work.

Because the nightmares are supposed to come from their fiction not from something they actually did. All "jumped the shark" technically means is that the series became unwatchable. And for some it has with this video.

yeah I do agree, but on that same note, being offended by someone's work is a perfectly acceptable response as well. Everyone has freedom of speech, not just the people who put the content out there. They had to know this video would cause quite a stir and since there is a warning on the video, they likely anticipated at least some negative reaction.

Oh, I never said people shouldn't be offended. Their taking offense doesn't concern me. It's the reacting to that offense by trying to stifle creative works that concerns me.

No, "jumping the shark" is when a series changes in tone because the creators have run out of ideas.

Named after Happy Days when Fonzy jumped a shark while water-skiing.

Well the girl who plays Amy just posted a lengthy explanation on her OOG blog that clears up many things:

Okay. That's it. I'll allow this because it will shut people up about this. But no more OOG. If there's any more, it gets moved to the OOG thread.

Poor things. I feel so bad for everyone involved. Her post is incredibly articulate, I hope everyone reads it and feels a little less upset.

Well, after I saw a post about shooting that dog, I saw these reactions coming like, miles, MILES, away.

Even if it missed completely.

Although, I personally didn't care about this at all.

Does everyone now understand why bringing out-of-game stuff into in-game threads is a bad thing and you shouldn't do it ever? I sure as hell hope so.
