 		long time reader first time poster
So I have been following Marble Hornets for a really long time now and have the first season dvd that I watch on a regular basis. I think that the direction this is going means one of two things:

1.) The next entry is going to be the biggest and bestest one yet.

2.) The next entry is going to end on a cliffhanger and it will leave us waiting for next season.

From what I'm guessing, prolonged Operator exposure causes regular people to make cameras react like they do around TO.

Question is: exactly how much exposure does it take to make this happen?

It didn't seem to happen as much in Season 1, but I get the feeling that they hadn't reconciled and clarified their sign/signified goodness, yet. Both Jessica and Jay display this trait. So does Tim. Actually, in the first season, we hear crazy distortion in #5 when Alex is chatting about his shoot -- it could just be that what we're hearing during the entirety of this season is a great refinement of what they were attempting to do in #5 and other "Ouch, my ears!" moments from Season 1.

It would be interesting if the voice disruptions were signs of less-fucked-up'ness, and actual visual distortions were synonymous with longer exposure. It seems relevant to add that the distortion burr that we hear in each of their voices generally comes out when the character in question is acting more anxious or stressed or angry. Masky doesn't speak, but when he does (######, #35) his voice is laced through with distortion or blurring that makes it not quite right. I'm generally under the impression that Masky is not working for, or under the thrall of the Operator... but this seems to point to him spending a crap-load of time in his presence.

I dunno, it's an interesting thing to bring up and I think it's worth discussing! Also, welcome to the conversation!

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure that Alex is under his own control. It could be that he's walking like that because he knows that Jay's following him and he hates pretending that he doesn't know. It could also be that he's on a sort of autopilot. If he's returning with regularity, it could just be that he's been imprinted some how with the urge to return and that his resistence to this imprint is pretty null. Why the Operator would want him to bring cameras, though, if he hates them so much...

I guess I feel like this isn't clear yet. What makes you think that he's doing all of this voluntarily?

Yes! This is an interesting point! "WHO SPY‽" is like the main theme of this story. Maybe this is to keep the victims in a loop of unhappiness paranoia that both causes them to come back to the Operator and lowers their resistence to him? They have to know, and they feel like they're doing it for their own protection... but they're just tangling themselves up in it?

Also, to that second point, I also got the distinct feeling that white-shirt-Bruce was about to tackle him from behind or something. XD Glad I'm not the only one.

I'm taking for granted at this point that Jay is completely oblivious to 80% of everything. The fact that he bypassed the Operator when he was so obvious was strange, but not alarming to me. It might hint, like others've said, that the Operator can be invisible in person and only caught on camera. Or it could just be that Troy & co wanted to go back to their roots with the Obvious Operator is Obvious shenanigans!

If Bruce isn't a red herring, I think that this might be the re-introduction of someone who we've seen in the cast before. Miiiiiiight just be a re-intro of Brian or Seth, though the images are really too blurry to say one way or the other.

These are not mutually exclusive scenarios.

 		I really don't think that was the Operator or that the white shirt person is of any significance. For one Jay doesn't even change his pace when the camera goes right by him, and there's not enough detail there for how close he is. I'm chalking it up to a trick on Troy and Joseph's.

And as for white shirt...not the most ridiculous theory I've seen (because of the white shirt in the tunnel), but it seems like a way too overzealous straw-grasp, IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW AND EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED styled thing.

Not disappointed with the entry because TV does this all the time. I think Alex is leading Jay into the jaws of hell.

On the other hand, we've seen how Jay reacts to seeing any one in the woods, re #29 when he thinks the guy with the headphones is following him. I think that if he actually spotted this, he would have frozen up and freaked out about it. At this point I imagine that he's all wound up. If it were a regular person, I think he'd have more reason to freeze and then run than if it were the Operator that caused him to gloss over it.

Could be the Operator on low-visibility mode, watching Jay because he is not averse to Jay following Alex. Messing with his head to ignore him, like.

Jay and Jessica make connections, so right before they leave the Operator has to move her (distortion at the end of 32). She leaves Jay the code and is taken to wherever. While the Operator is gone, Masky attacks and Jay escapes with the tapes and his Maglite.

Alright, shoot all the holes you want in it. I am exhausted and have been working on HW for 6 hours straight so this is just me rambling with no filters.


I actually quite like this theory for the most part. Maybe Whiteshirt/Bruce is Hoody, sans hood and sweater. It also explains how Jay ended up with all of Alex's stuff in the hotel room.

Alex has been tricked by Slenderman into believing that pockets don't exist!

sometihng bothering me though...

the person in #29 had both the chest cam and the hand held...wheres the tape for the hand held? maybe that has sometihng on it as well.
THe chest cam died apparently in 29 so whatevers left is on the hand held

How is that not the Operator? We've had plenty of good, clear screencaps of him from this entry floating around in the earlier pages of this thread and the static flares up briefly as the camera pans by.
All signs point to Jay passing the Operator, and collecting his 200 20 dollars.

Either Alex grabs Jay's handheld camera, or Jay straps on Alex's chest-mounted-satchel-camera. Assuming that there isn't a handheld in his satchel, of course. Surely.

 		I would just like to chip in and affirm that the Operator appears at 4:36. It is key to raise the volume enough, because although a sharp still image of him is impossible, the brief but discernible audio distortion is a good giveaway.

 		I think Alex was putting the MAGIC STUFF inside of the camera bag as to not look suspicious in the public. Since he would already be wearing a chest-mounted camera, people would think he's a photographer or something. I'm probably wrong, but we'll find out soon enough.

 		Finally, some progress.

Hopefully we get to see what Alex is doing by that tunnel soon. Kinda makes it look like he's meeting up with Slendy.
