actually, my first clue was to think "London's National Railroad" is the Underground. I didn't see it that way until you pointed it out to me in IRC

I thought the picture on the page looked pretty close to Ash - and it seems to fit the clue since we know we're looking for something that relieves T____.

Compare the pic at the top of the link (click on toothache) to the embedded pic.

hmm, although it dosent really matter at this point, i wish we chould have found the accual picture. I will note that in the pic we were given the leaves come off of the main stem and are more elongated, the ash has leave comeing off of ofshoot branches. not that those drawings are compleatly accurate... dosent matter. have last weeks puzzle to finish.

Alright I think I've got the correct answers for the "only_one_alive" puzzle. The first one still doesn't match up, but it's the only mutation that matches the clue, and none of the mutations beginning with "O" seem to have anything to do with development. Anyway, here's the mostly complete list with explanations.

MAGGIE -Mutation has stunted growth (like Maggie from the Simpsons) and does not progress past first instar
NOOSE -Mutation reacts fatally with 'string' gene
LOT -Mutation loves salt
YURI -Mutation has problems with gravity

OUT COLD -Mutation stops movement in lower temperatures
NAKED CUTICLE -Mutation has deleted denticle belt
ETHER A-GO-GO -Mutation becomes spastic under anesthesia

AMONTILLADO -Mutation cannot hatch from egg
LIQUID FACETS -Mutation has incredibly deformed eyes
INDY -Mutation lives abnormally long
VULCAN -Mutation has deformed legs
EASILY SHOCKED -Mutation is paralyzed by sudden shock (figuratively loses its head)

For completeness, the first one is OUT AT FIRST. The mutatation is fatal in the early larval stage, ie the first instar.

Edit - fixed quote

Yep, and O should be Oskar, a gene named after the boy who wouldn't grow up in the book The Tin Drum. The quote is from the book.

Also, The last E should be Exuperantia, a gene named after a Christian slave who was beheaded.

And while we're on the subject of completeness, some wiki folk might wanna revise the Oct1 puzzle solutions with this info: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=80811&highlight=#80811

Just a quick note.

My father being a Signal Corps Vet, and Eagle Scout, and a big ol' HAM (radio operator), loves Morse code.

So before I even checked to see if it had been solved yet I sent him a copy of the "new_chicken" Morse code puzzle.

Moments later I realised it had been solved, I was about to email him again to let him know he need not bother when I got an email from him saying, "That's easy! It's 'Chicken', but there's this odd echo."

I replied that it was part of a puzzle on the Internet and told him to listen to it again on a pair of headphones.

He was very amused.
