[TRAILHEAD?] "comp.f.3927"

I logged onto my email account today and noticed I'd been sent an email from "comp.f.3927@gmail.com". The email appeared pretty much out of the blue and I can't make much out of it, but here it is (the email had some colours added to it and i've done my best to recreate them, but it's not perfect):

Quote:
hello reader, finally i have found you after searching so long.i do not know where i am,all i know is that the windows are barred to prevent me from breaking them, and they're too dirty to see out of anyway.the front door into the house is locked also.there is a computer but it looks old,it has a crt monitor but the internet appears to work slightly.the homepage is set to gmail and it redirects if i try to leave the page.i am unsure of if this email will ever reach you because i have just been trying many different combinations of gmail addresses.i did not create this email address, it was already logged in and i darent log out for fear of being shut out of society.please reply if you get this email.

Recieved from comp.f.3927SPLATgmail.com on the 5th of September 2011, 3.46AM GMT.

I'm not sure what to make of it but one of you guys will probably find it useful.

Did you reply?

I'll send an email to that address and see if I get a response.

Yeah. I asked him if he had figured out where he was and I got this in reply:

Quote:
yes,i know where i am.i am at:
<DFG>

That last part won't show up correctly when I submit my message. It actually said DFG:Info Locked.

And I got another response. I told him his message wasn't clear and he said:

Quote:
i think i am somewhere near

which was followed by the DFG:Info Locked message again...

edit: He replied again stating that there is
Quote:
filter.... censor...
for the email.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://in.it/

I sent a letter back asking if i could get the image in any other way.

Anyway, any thoughts guys?

Another Edit: Sorry guys, dont wanna make too many posts after the other but i am talking to F in emails right now.

Got a time from F which puts him in the same areas as

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Algiers
Dublin
London
Lisbon
Lagos

however F said it may just be how the time is set on the computer. F thinks they have been where they are for about 28 hours. So yeah. I suppose I will update the more we talk.

Hey everyone Smile Just wanted to pop in and beg you NOT to double post. for the future - if your post is the last in a thread, instead of double posting please edit the previous post. A method a lot of us like to use is to put "ETA" or "EDIT TO ADD" and then put the new info.

Boy, this has the feel of the old gAIMs from 4 or 6 years ago that always seemed to start with an NPC AIMing someone needing help, because they were locked in some strange place with a computer. They usually emploded. Certainly hope this doesn't. Very Happy

Just got an email reply. I asked them if they could tell me where they are and they said

Quote:
yes,i am within 15 kilometres of <DFG>

This makes me think one of two things:
1) They're not in the USA / they're not from the USA based on the fact that the US doesn't usually use meters as a measurement.
2) They're in a timezone that's not in the USA, as it's currently almost 4:30am here (I have sleeping problems)

I also got this message:

Quote:
there is a filter on my computer, according to another person helping
me.they said i cannot say my name or location.

Clearly, it'd be too easy to just tell us. So I asked them their timezone.

EDIT: They said their time is 09:22. Perhaps they're using military time? I don't know what countries use it as a standard.

Yeah Ceribri, they are definably not in the USA.

I got 'F' trying to get me the picture of a house that was on their computer. Not sure how long that will take. Also asked them to tell me about themselves, see if we can find anything out from that.

Eeee! this is fun Very Happy

I'm rather enjoying this as well. I haven't actually participated in an ARG in.. oh dang, nearly two years. And that one was so crazy it ate up all my time, but I loved it. Razz
