The murder happened months ago, so most evidence from the scene is long gone. Contacting the authorities also would raise a lot of uncomfortable questions for Jay, questions he would have to answer. He really fits the "Creepy Drifter" mold pretty well when you objectively look at his life as it is now. In addition he has committed a few crimes during the course of this story, even if they are somewhat minor. Jay probably believes that contacting the police would only make things worse for him and he isn't necessarily wrong for believing that.

Edit: What really puzzles me is why he hasn't invested in a weapon besides the mag-lite but he could very well be simply running out of money by this point.

Yeah that's been bothering me too--do any of these drugged up hippies have jobs? OOG, sure they're fine, but in-game I'll be damned if I'm paying taxes so Jay can live on welfare.

Replying to all of this, I'm really only joking about the "justice" part, but calling the cops isn't out of the question. The cops do have to follow up on "evidence" like this, even if they know it will lead to a dead end (ha-ha).

If we're assuming that the victim was Bruce, he had a car at the park - which has an obvious playground. It's likely that Bruce has family or friends that would have filed a missing person's report. These reports tend to have pictures attached to them, which means that the cops would at least be able to match victim to missing person. That alone is enough for the investigation to step up a notch. Maybe it doesn't go anywhere, but it makes Alex a "person of interest" if not a prime suspect.

If Jay is willing to provide some details about Alex, that gets more people looking for him in the present. I'm not saying that it's likely that Alex would be thrown in prison. More likely, Alex would be up for some hefty psychological observation (tell a psychiatrist you're being stalked by a faceless, inhumanly proportioned monster, just see what they think of you). This might be somewhat more "merciful" option than Jay taking things into his own hands.

In any case, the video is enough evidence to get authorities asking questions, even if it isn't enough to convict Alex in a court of law. And Jay could use some backup like that.

I don't even really need Jay to do this to carry on the story. I'd just like him to broach the issue. Even if he says, "No way, Alex is my friend, I can't just turn on him like that" or "There's no way the cops would believe me", or whatever.

I've always figured was Jay was an only child with dead parents so he has been completely bleeding dry his inheritance over the course of the story. That or he liquidated his assets when he started to go on the run in season 1, skating by on that and credit cards.

who the hell is 'Bruce?' there is no bruce. Anywhere in the series, ever. And what's worse is that others have started calling dead man 'Bruce' like that's his real name. Who is Bruce? Or this just a codename?

"Bruce" is a lot better than "That guy in the white shirt who Alex choked and bludgeoned to death" at least in terms of brevity.

This forum most assuredly does not exist in-game.

Maybe Bruce was a hobo or something. No family or anything. That way no report would be made.

Could entry 50 be Jay interviewing the family or something else that will have lack of decency? Very Happy

Maybe Jay will post up a scan of a "news article" pertaining the man's disappearance.

Or better yet - here's a finale idea - Jay posts the article after finishing the 7 month's tapes (assuming Alex lives). We learn that Alex Kralie was taken into custody for being a suspect in the man's disappearance, at the end of the 7 months. However, we also learn that Alex is let off the hook right at the present time of the finale, because there wasn't enough evidence that it was him. So now Alex is free and going to try and kill Jay again.

That is an awesome idea. I don't think it will happen, but it would be a great hook for season 3.
