 		Right. And according to Wikipedia, Vancouver is located at 49°15′N 123°6′W

But I haven't received the challenge from Tevan yet, still waiting for a response on the Boethius question (perhaps PM went to sleep?). So you can give it a try, yes?

 		This is a guess, but it might have to do with the actors' names:

William ALAN Shatner = Alan Hale (astronomer, or the Skipper from Gilligan's Island)
JACKSON DeForest Kelley = Michael Jackson (singer)
Leonard SIMON Nimoy = Simon Templar (character from The Saint)

So Slick could refer to Nichelle Nichols who was born GRACE Nichols --> Grace Slick (singer)

vorticity maximum is translated to "greatest vorticity". The biggest planet in our solar system (which would have the greatest vorticity) is Jupiter. Now Jupiter was the "king of the gods, and the god of sky and thunder" in roman mythology, carrying the nickname (one of many) Jupiter Pluvius ("sender of rain"). He also stood statue outside Capitol, which could be a reference to the image on the website.

There can be seen a crow (or a raven) on the image on the website and according to wikipedia "The Roman poet Ovid saw them as a harbinger of rain (Amores 2,6, 34).".

 		Cake may mean layers -- which could make sense because the image on the webpage is made up of 2 slices/layers.
