One of the permanent pieces at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is "Birthday" by Dorothea Tanning

Tanning as in suntan lotion, and birthday as in cake!
Did it work?

I'm not sure whether it constitutes an answer, but I've sent a searching email asking whether we're on the right track. Will let you know what I hear.

dont know if this fits in but he wrote this on twitter about an hour ago

In some cases, making haste is necessary. In other cases, it makes you the first to discover that the airlock was broken

i think "blessed the rains" hints to the song AFRICA from TOTO

found this

"This appeared in an episode of the TV show Scrubs in 2004. The episode was a tribute to the movie The Wizard Of Oz, so Toto fit the theme."

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3009in

and again the Wizard of Oz appears

the dog's name in wizard of oz is Toto

Does the answer you are looking for have anything to do with Dorothea Tanning and "Birthday"?

I'm not looking for anything. This morning I was looking for my slippers, but I could not find them. I replicated new ones, which are quite comfortable. The answer to this exam, on the other hand, has nothing to do with Dorothea Tanning. Or the painting. Or my slippers.

Tevan Aelaan

Cryptic, and confusing. What are we looking for?

I have...half a solution?

When I mentioned the museum:

Quote:
The top half of the picture has a lot to do with the motivations of someone in the encoded text. Some destinations are not ends, but beginnings.

The rest is going to be under a spoiler, since it's my solution from there.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was looking at the specific things that are mentioned:

the tornado
Dorothy
Toto
The Cowardly Lion

The tornado got her there and Toto just came along. If we're looking at motivations, it has to be for either Dorothy or the Cowardly Lion.

What were their motivations? They are both after their heart's desires. Dorothy wishes to return home, while the Lion simply wants the courage to face his fears.

His response:

"The solution for the second part of the puzzle is contained above. Now you need to find the first part."

Me too, it seems Cool

As an additional note, it seems that the first half of the solution (since I got the second half) is to find the relevance of the two pictures...I summarized what information that's been posted here about each one for him, but there's something more to it, since he continued to say that I haven't found the relevance.

I emailed asking for some guidance. Tevan's response:

"Thanks to 'Rocky,' those steps are an incredible landmark for the city.
What is the picture underneath the image of those famous steps?"

It's a picture of a Raven/Lady Gaga. The city is Philadelphia.

Hmm. I thought we had it with the Dorothea Tanning/Lady Gaga receiving the ruby slipper (from wizard of oz) for her birthday. :/ Seemed very elegant.

My brain is spinning all over the place with this. Lady Gaga's biggest influences are David Bowie and Freddie Mercury (again he pops up). She took her name from the Queen song, "Radio GaGa." I keep thinking of the song, "Under Pressure."

Ok...a little freaked out now. It's obvious that the PM pays attention to the forum...

I just got this email:

Quote:
Your answer is wrong.

1. You're looking for a person.
2. This puzzle has nothing to do with paintings.
3. This puzzle has nothing to do with birthdays.
4. This puzzle does have something to do with a birthplace.
5. That is Lady Gaga.
6. That specific image of Lady Gaga is very important.
7. This puzzle has nothing to do with slippers.
8. It would appear that music is very important to this puzzle.

The part that really got me was this IM I received shortly after:

Quote:
(19:56:53) tevanaelaan:
lions and tigers and bears
(19:57:24) tevanaelaan:
Lions and Tigers and Bears
(19:57:30) tevanaelaan:
LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS

The only place I have my AIM information listed is on this forum Shocked

Quote:
"Alejandro" is written by Lady Gaga and RedOne, while the latter produced the song. It was recorded at FC Walvisch Studios in Amsterdam.[1] Originally, "Dance in the Dark" was planned to be released as the third single from The Fame Monster, as a preference of Gaga's record label. The singer's own choice, "Alejandro", initially saw poor reception in terms of radio play, thereby was not seen as a viable choice for a single. A quarrel then arose between Gaga and her label where "Alejandro" was ultimately chosen to be released. Through her account on Twitter, the singer remarked on the decision, "Alejandro is on the radio. Fuck it sounds so good, we did it little monsters."[5][6] The single was officially sent to radio on April 20, 2010 in the United States.[7] In an interview with Fuse TV, Gaga said that the inspiration behind "Alejandro" was her "Fear of Sex Monster".[3]

Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York City.

Is the PM maybe referring to the birthplace of the SONG? Amsterdam?
