so what do you guys think? Is this how we would picture slenderman moving, and how we would want him to move in our vlogs? I will do a tutorial on this effect once im sure I got it right.

That's awesome, man. It'd be a sweet effect for Slender Man. Brick diarrhea.

ehh... tbh its a little bit cliche and not all that scary... i think it is quite a bit scarier to see more of a slowish creepy stride than something quick like that ie entry 6, entry 14 and TTA's Return from MH.

also, the headsnap from entry 1 made me poop

Well that's what we've been discussing in this thread: fast moving slendy and slow moving slendy. But I think there is a way to increase slendermans scariness when he moves slowly, and that's what i shall work on doing next!

So, ugh, yeah, someone else claimed Slendy was running in DH. That wasn't Slendy...

Next we'll see slendy pushing a shopping cart, or slendy riding a bike, or slendy on a skatebo-

Oh.

Not ashamed to admit I screamed like a little girl when the teleportation kicked in. Very creepy. I'd love to see someone try that effect in a Slendy blog.

What are your thoughts on slendy running? Like just hauling ass after you like an Olympic sprinter? I know most of the time he moves very slowly - I don't think it's because he's too large or too weak to move very fast - I assume it's just because he's not in any rush. Because after all, he can go anywhere he want, immediately. But what if he decided to run just like "heh do something else today 'cause i'm an eldritch abomination lol"

If Slendy started doing more Ninja Cat than necessarily need (ie,video distortion, movement) I would shit a brick.

I thought this was great! I'd love to see it implemented in a slendervlog. But not if it's overused, of course. Moderation and subtlety and all that. Smile

I've actually got an idea related to this that I've been wanting to try out when/if I start up a series, but I kinda don't want to divulge it, since I'd hate for someone to use it before I got the chance to. I will say this, however. I don't think it's just movement. Yes, Slender Man should move more, move uniquely, but he should also have a bit of variation in his appearance. Tribe Twelve did this well, with them being the first (And to my knowledge, the only) series to include tentacles.

I wouldn't quite say I'm a fan of slow Slendy against fast, but I'm certainly not a fan of running. Take the early Marble Hornets for example. The head snap in 1 was OMGWTFHOLYCRAPINEEDNEWPANTS terrifying. when he ran around in the park it just looks goofy.

When cosplaying him I tried to make all my movements slow - except for the head where I'd imitate MH by slowly looking around as though I was searching but snapping my head towards anyone I heard say 'Oh god its slenderman!'. Very Happy then I'd slowly stalk towards them.

Fast movements have their place, essentially any time it looks unnatural, especially the head. But running? No. If something is running towards you you can get an adrenaline rush, yes. It can even be scary. But if its running then its real, its soemthing that has to put effort into chasing you and that makes it something you can understand. And if you undertsand it you no longer fear it. But a slow (preferrably with an odd gaint) walk? There's no adrenaline rush. You see the creature coming towards you, you know its hostile, but all its doing is walking slowly? That creates an image of soemthing that doesn't need to run. Its inexorable. And its calm. Nothing you can do will so much as bother it, it is so sure of its victory that its not even rushed. You can't fight it, you can't evade it. No matter how far you run you know it will eventually catch up.

A fast pace will scare you, but its simply fight or flight, an instinctive reaction to something attacking. A slow pace gives time for a psychological fear to grow, and that is what is truly terrifying.

In essence: Fast, jerky motions to make it alien; slow, calm approaches to make it powerful.

You should never give the impression it can't move quickly though, if it can't run then you can avoid it. Make it clear that it chooses to move slowly because you are so far beneath it you are simply not worth the effort. It also helps to give the impression of a more alien mind.

The exception is an actual attack. This(if shown) should be fast - as fast as possible, preferrably you should barely see it, if you can make it out at all. This gives you the adrenaline rush as well, but also means you'll be expecting it when he's marching towards you and that'll add to the fear.

I enjoy what TribeTwelve did in their new video with Slendy on the plane. He did technically move, from the back of the plane's cabin to the middle, but how he did it was ambiguous. We don't know if he walked, teleported, or even floated over...and I like that.

I am waiting for the day that someone pulls off a gloriously horrifying but gorgeous Slenderman Doc-Ock walk.

A slow march towards the camera, then BAM- the tendrils whip out and he's suddenly at the camera within milliseconds like a rapid spider, all but flying above the ground with those aggressive black tentacles carrying him.
