Return to the Place Where it All Began
Phase 02 at Intermine Labs

Phase 02 is here! After a very fun (but very short) run following the tragic exploits of John Smith in the first phase it looks like Intermine Labs is ready to try again.

The Intermine Laboratories page on Facebook made this post on the 24th:

Quote:
Hello! We are glad you have chosen us to co-operate with! The results of last month's testing have been CLEANED up, so we are almost ready to begin the next phase of Experimentation. If you would like to take part, alert a test associate, and we can fit you in to the next phase.

A new Youtube channel was created with the name IntermineInnovations. A message from Cecil was released there.

Edit: New video, embed tags must not be working. -_- Here is a link

I also received an e-mail today.

Cecil Masters wrote:

Dearest Ogawa,

To the one who seemed to understand it all
He who is not scared, cannot truly grasp fear...
Everyone who claims their fate has died.

Do as you are told
And everything will be fine
Ready to experience the utmost regret?
Knowing what is next will not save you from what is to come
No, it will only make you more vulnerable.
End comes before beginning, in some cases,
Surely you understand this riddle.
Surely...oh surely...

In the beginning you will see the next step
Save them, oh faithful members of Intermine

Hero or Villain? You choose.
Everyone has a choice, as do you
Ready to give up everything?
Enter the threshold and speak the password.

I wish you luck.

It spells "the darkness is here" down the side of the message. The last line was "hidden" in white.

The home page for Intermine Labs has been cleaned up since last time, and the Youtube video is posted there: www.interminelaboratories.co.cc. There's also a form/field where you can enter information to join testing. Michael Graham's profile from the About Us page has been removed.

There doesn't seem to be anything new at beginning.interminestudios.com.

Contrary to what Cecil seems to think, I'm not sure I know the answer to his riddle. Though with all references to the beginning in Phase 01, perhaps we are looking to the end now. Which would be weird...because like I'd said before, we don't have any sort of timeline.

In any case, I'm excited to move on. Smile

I've kept every single one of my intermine phase 1 e-mails.

I honestly think the password is easier than that perhaps our password is our hidden phrase.
However I'm going to take a quick look back through my phase 1 e-mails before I assume.
Ready for me to be a horrible person again if the need arises, guys?

Quote:
Ah! Hello My dear friend. How have you been as of late?

Yes, I missed our conversations as well. If I remember correctly, you were one of the sole participants who seemed to be on my side from the start. For that I am grateful. The Testing will begin in exactly 2 weeks, in which "The Threshold" will be more familiar to you. Until then, however, keep an eye out on the Facebook page (Blasted website, I could never figure out how to use it, luckily, my secretary managed to get it up and running), and our official website, www.IntermineLaboratories.co.cc for more information. As far as the Darkness, it is no longer a threat, actually. It was a potential threat to hydrophilic lifeforms in the past, but as of late, there have been 0 sightings of Darkness infused creatures. So rest easy knowing these things. Thank you for contacting me, and I hope we can engage in amiable conversation in the near future, providing the emails do not encounter any corruption, like last time.

Alright then it seems I have some of our information until then I'm going to remain amiable and play my role as I have. Looks like doing what I did last time has worked out well for me this round eh?

I think you're right. The hidden phrase does come at the end after all. I wonder where we're meant to go, or what threshold he's talking about. Do you think we're just supposed to email him?

Edit: And yes, it seems your duties as double agent will be needed yet again. Razz What a pleasant e-mail. Perhaps Mr. Masters does not plan on being an antagonist this time 'round. But I'll never forgive him for what he did to Graham...

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to point out that there is a countdown on the Intermine Labs home page. It ends September 11th at midnight CDT. (Darkest Puzzle anyone?) This could be another instance of the countdown timer ticking off your computer's local time, so I would appreciate verification. Very Happy

Also, the FB page for Intermine Labs recommended signing up even if you "participated" in Phase 01, 'cause I think they might have lost e-mail addies or forgot anyone who didn't "like" their page.

And so...the waiting game!

I hope to see more contact initiated from people.
I shall remain a double agent.
Cecil takes a friendly tone with me but you have to recall I was a player who played a friend and someone much like him, willing to throw others out for progress.
So don't doubt that we'll see a less savory side again. At least this round should have more players with the way it's been advertised around.

Dearest Zombar,

I am glad to hear you have been doing well. Tell me, have you experienced any unwanted side effects of the last phase of testing? Oh, say, Vomiting, Nausea, Coughing Blood, etc? It's not a plausible threat of testing, but every bit of information is useful.

I'm going to say I've been mostly fine but this is certainly interesting.

I sent Mr. Masters an e-mail a while ago. I sort of inquired about his choosing 9/11 to run Phase 02. This is what he had to say:

Cecil Masters wrote:
Yes. I am excited to begin testing. The coincidence that the beginning of testing begins on a day which was a tragic day for all Americans is quite curious as well, but trust me when I say that there is no correlation between the two concepts. After all, the attack occurred over 1000 years ago. I trust that you will continue to observe the website over the next two weeks, and I will see you when the clock strikes 12.

So midnight on the eleventh. I'm assuming that's for all time zones.

Bump! It's time!

I received the following e-mail at 11:45PM CDT. The subject line is "Rose of May."

Quote:
From the Desk of Cecil Masters:

Eventually, all must fade to ash, but those who are strong in spirit will survive. The question is, who is strong in spirit? Who deserves to stay alive, while others die? That's what I aim to discover. How can the Human Race truly come to be the most versatile race on the face of the earth? The Darkness is key. The Darkness brings us to our knees in humility, it draws out of us what we refuse to flaunt. It makes us more powerful than we can possibly imagine. That is what Michael Graham failed to realize. I plan on correcting his mistakes, and more. Shall you side with us, or with them? It's your choice, in the end, you still have free will, unlike those things...remember, a battle which has been raging for countless centuries cannot be stopped by one man. The line has been drawn. The Line in the Sand has been made. Step wisely. Let the testing begin.

Sincerely,
Cecil Masters

There was a second signature line with the e-mail address we all know and loathe: CmastersSPLATIntermineLaboratories.co.cc

Then at half-past midnight, another e-mail from Intermine Funeral Services (crematorySPLATinterminelaboratories.co.cc) was sent out. The subject for this one is "A Place of Great Bloodshed and Turmoil."

Quote:

The coded portion at the end was "hidden" in white text. ROT-13 gets the following translation:

Attached to the e-mail was an image with a message regarding Michael Graham. I've transcribed it below, omitting some return stamps to save space.

Quote:
Hello, patron of Intermine Laboratories

I hope life has treated you well. We are sending this message along to inform those who might be interested of the terrible misfortune which has befell [sic] us as of late.

For those of you who might be aware, our Chief Executive Officer, Michael Graham passed away in his hospital bed. However we were surprised to see his successor, Cecil Masters, find Mr. Graham's body lying next to a Cryogenic Chamber, barely breathing. We were unable to save his life, to our misfortune.

Therefore, we have officially handed all powers that be over to Mr. Masters, who has promised to lead our shining company into a new era, the likes of which have never been seen before. Humanity will finally be the dominant race once again. We thank you for understanding, and we will cease communications from this point on. God Speed.

Intermine Funeral Services

As far as I can tell, nothing new has popped up on the Intermine Labs website. The countdown has reversed to a "time since testing began" counter, reading one day past as of this writing.

I wonder who did the autopsy on Mr. Graham and somehow missed the bullet wound. Cecil must have more control over Intermine than I'd originally thought.

There's also a bit of text at the far bottom-right of the image. It's kind of dark, but I think it says "The Alamo"

Okay messed with the photo, definitely says The Alamo.

Not sure what that could mean for us. Since that phrase seems so very out of place. I'm not totally sure where to go next, maybe I can get a conversation going with Cecil next e-mail.

I just received this email about 10 minutes ago from William McKinley (wmckinleySPLATinterminelaboratories.co.cc)

Quote:
I don't know who you are, and I don't know what you want, but if you know what's good for you, you'll stay out of Intermine. Even the world out there is better than it is in here. Tell me, have you ever convinced someone to kill himself? Then you won't know my true feelings...

I knew I remembered that name. It was from the website that was discovered after the Intermine Labs site became corrupted. I'm sure his name also appeared on the Cryogenics Volunteers doc found on the "beginning" site with the login.

Had to go looking through the other thread to find the site, since Intermine Labs is obviously restored now. Here's the page: http://www.wix.com/hauntdeliverance/mainframe

Date of Freeze: [INFORMATION REDACTED]
Interesting Observations: Perfect Candidate for Project
Jerusalem, if the project is ever revived.

Project Jerusalem again. I wonder what Mr. Graham intended for this project, and what Cecil plans to do to screw it all up.

I also wonder if William McKinley made it out of Cryogenics after we opened all of the chambers. I know his chamber was opened and he went through rehabilitation exercises, but aside from John Smith and Mr. Graham, we haven't heard anything about anyone else.

Edit: I sent an e-mail to William. I told him to trust me and that he's probably the next in line for Cecil's latest bout of testing. Here's his reply:

William McKinley wrote:
I don't want to go back to THAT world. I left it all those years ago for a reason. Cecil Masters has no control over me or my comrades, so there is absolutely no reason to think that. I'm only saying this for your own good. You may know what happened, but you have no way of stopping it from repeating...

As for The Alamo...I guess it is a place of "great bloodshed and turmoil." That's the only connection I can think of.

That was mine after I e-mailed him, I'm curious as to the line in the sand. I'll keep going since I asked Cecil the same in a way.

Interesting. That phrase was italicized in the e-mail from Cecil on the eleventh. Surely it's of significance. So...what building does it connect to?

Apparently the phrase "line in the sand" is linked to the Alamo. From wiki:

In the United States, the phrase is most commonly associated with Texas history surrounding the Battle of the Alamo, as it is attributed to Colonel William Travis, commander of the Alamo defense forces.[1] In the waning days of the Battle (somewhere between March 3–5, 1836), with Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna having the Alamo completely surrounded, Santa Anna sent a messenger to Travis demanding surrender, or else everyone in the compound would be killed. According to the legend, Travis called the Alamo defenders together, explained that defeat was almost certain, and read the letter of surrender; Travis then (having chosen to die instead of surrender) reportedly pulled his battle sword, drew a line in the sand of the Alamo, and asked for volunteers to cross over the line and join him, understanding their decision would be irreversible. The legend states that all but one of the defenders (including Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett) joined Travis on his side of the line; Moses Rose being the only holdout. Travis then responded to Santa Anna's letter with cannon fire, whereupon Santa Anna replied by playing El Degüello.

The line is metaphorical. The line is not visible. After all, sand is loose, rigid, and unreliable. The line faded after that man died, and now we're stuck in this God forsaken place.

This was my next response to asking about the line. Seems he or all of us are stuck.
Good fine Oli! I never would have thought of looking into that.

If what we heard from Bradley is correct, then there are four worlds intertwined with this one. In my mind, the only way to escape, and to avoid the line, is to escape to one of those worlds. So, I intend on trying on all of them, to see which of them piques my interest.

Then I saw the Darkness from her shadow, while she told me "He is with me"

Okay now that one was interesting apparently he's escaping to the other worlds. Also the end line was in red and part of it was hidden specifically The Darkness is with me. [/quote]

Hrrrmmm progress apparently Mckinley is somehow connected to the darkness that we have been warned against before. I wonder how though and re-born that's a truly interesting choice of words.
