[INFO/WEBSITE] Infocyclone.org

Okay, there's not a topic about this site as such so far so I thought I would try and recap what we know about it as it seems to be all we have at the moment.

Nash, who runs Immersion Unlimited, was contacted by Henry Shaw to do an interview with some of his members on ARGs and conspiracies for an article to be placed on his site, infocyclone.org. This took place on Thursday night, and was just a run-of-the-mill interview on ARGs and ARG history, or so it seemed.

Infocyclone is a site about conspiracies, run by Henry Shaw, Daniel Shaw and Colin Brennan. There are plenty of conspiracy articles there, but the site kinda begged the question - why do they want to do an article about ARGs? We could only see a very tenuous link between ARGs and conspiracies, so we started to get suspicious and look into it..

The whois information for infocyclone.org shows the following:

Quote:

Registrant Name:Henry Shaw
Registrant Organization:Shaw Brothers
Registrant Street1:29 South 22nd Street
Registrant Street2:
Registrant Street3:.
Registrant City:Pottsville
Registrant State/Province:PA
Registrant Postal Code:17901
Registrant Country:US
Registrant Phone:+1.5706401424
Registrant Phone Ext.:
Registrant FAX:
Registrant FAX Ext.:
Registrant Email:projectgateway@comcast.net

So, Henry Shaw is from Pottsville and certainly appears to be in game. Also, it has recently been noticed (how I managed not to see this I'll never know, I must have been distracted every 50 seconds while looking at the page the other night Rolling Eyes ) that every so often on the title banner of InfoCyclone, the Project Gateway logo fades in and out.

Could it be that CC32 has taken over this site? Another Emily-like situation?

The article was posted on the website last night. It's a nice introduction to ARGs with descriptions of some past games, and those currently running. It also contains a paragraph about Project Gateway quoting ARGN and agreeing that players should take caution playing the game (!) followed by the following hidden text:

Quote:

Command Prompt:>>>>Variable "Faith" USER HenryShaw = 0

CC32 making his views known about Henry Shaw's opinion on PG?

Henry Shaw again appeared in chat last night, over on irc.sorcery.net's #gateway room ([META]come back to chat-solutions guys! Crying or Very sad Wink[/META]) and Leo had a PM conversation with him which you can find a transcript of here. In this it seems that Henry is a regular resident of Pottsville who has been affected by the propoganda newspaper reports that Shadown et al have put out - he believes that S32 are the bad guys, and Section White are the superheroes. Leo soon puts him straight Wink and he seems willing to help us since the Shaw Brothers love conspiracies..

The various other interactions {phone, email} with Henry Shaw are in this thread, so I won't go into detail about them here.

One last thing, Henry's partner in crime Daniel Shaw seems to have gone AWOL.. Henry has no idea where he is.

Sorry about the long post, I just wanted to braindump everything about infocyclone into one topic, the forum seems to have gone a bit wayward since we lost CC32 Wink Let's get back on track and figure out what's going on Smile

Any thoughts about infocyclone?

Odd index page

Not sure what to make of this.,It may just be a coding mistake, but on the site index page http://www.infocyclone.org/index.html at the bottom is contact info listing an email address for H_Shaw and C_brennan.

The odd thing is if you just click the link for C_Brennan, it actually uses H_Shaws mailto info. I am going to try and send a letter to Colin by manually using his addy and see if I get a reply.
