Sucks to be alone in the creation of a Slender Man series...
This is oog so be warned about entering this thread.

I am the creator of a newer Slender Man series made a bit before CaughtNotSleeping and I just wanted a place to get my struggles off my chest. I will not be mentioning my series because that is not the purpose of this. I have a good number of subscriber and the potential for my series is high, but man is doing this hard business. Mostly it is hard because no one wants to help ever. No one gives a hot damn about Slender Man here. I have so much I would love to do and no way to accomplish any of it without people. Another thing is that I am living in the shadow of Caught. We have about the same number of subscribers, but everyone discusses his series and people just expect from mine. I just want someone to tell me what works or what does not. Instead I either gain subscribers or loose them with no reason as to why. I am honestly surprised that I am doing as well as I am because I am never happy with my finished product. The thing that sucks most is that I have no choice, but to move on. This story that has swelled up inside me will not let me go and I feel like going mad from my inability to fulfill what I have dreamed do to my lack of any consistent help. All of you creators who have at least one good friend willing and eager to help you with your endevour count yourself as blessed! Anyway that is that. Does anyone else share my frustration? Does anyone have advise? Does anyone have questions or just want to talk to me about bs? I am cool with that. Tell me what you have to say.

Move to Jersey?
That's all I can think of to help you out.

Good luck with the series. I might stumble across it someday.

You know what sucks? I lived there... Now I live in Florida. Affording a house was much cheaper here.

The only thing that I can suggest is be open to criticism, if you listen to what your fans and other viewers don't like about the series and you strive to change that you might find more viewers. Also branching out in to the unknown instead of following what the popular consensus seem to do in these vlogs is a good idea as well. Not saying that what is out there is getting old, but it's always interesting to find something refreshing and different. But of course, I can't really pass a lot of ideas without actually viewing the said series =\ if you want you can PM it to me and I can discreetly give you some feedback?

I thank you for the ideas. I shall keep them in mind while creating.

than JERSEY??

Taking on an ARG is an immense task, even one within a pre-existing mythos. If you feel like you have an angle that might create a niche for itself, I think it'd be good to just step back and applaud yourself a minute. Taking it on by yourself, now that's INTENSE. It seems reasonable that you'd feel overwhelmed and disheartened, all projects have times like that. It's even harder when you're in a removed position, unable to receive direct feedback (ie the position of puppetmaster).

I've had experiences with non-slenderman related projects where I dumped countless hours and exhausting amounts of mental (and emotional) energy only to feel disconnected from my audience. The sense of frustration is crushing. (Since I might as well continue in this personal/confessional/anecdotal style, forgive my indulgences) I had this really strange moment with a single person wherein I realized my work was affecting this ONE PERSON really intensely, there was just no way for me to have known it.

What I'm trying to get at is, maybe the problem isn't with the project, as most EVERYTHING has an audience... Maybe the problem is you want a little more direct contact and feedback. Would you be into pushing the ARG aspect harder? Is it important to get a broad, semi-disinterested audience? Would you be happier with a smaller, more intensive one? Talk to your readers!

Just words of support from across the internet... from a stranger...

ps- if you're into it, I'd love to know which you're working on and would be delighted to have a skype-convo/critique... PM ME!

I too share your struggles. Apparently central california is a desolate no mans land when it comes to slender man. However, I do have my cousin who is willing to start my series with me. HOWEVER, my series requires much more than two people (at least 5). I got some rather large ideas, and a small amount of people. But hey, it's all about compromising.

I know your youtube channel, good stuff, I would like to see you make a series. I would love to have even one friend to help me. On rare occasions I have played the "you owe me" card to get help, but I really need a steady re-occurring character.

thank you very much! Very Happy And if you ever need someone from all the way across the country, then I'd be glad to help! Otherwise, I shall continue to question why it is that all of the slender world is on the east coast....
