Yeah, it kinda doesn't surprise me mistakes were made. Especially given the extreme depth of this story, and expecting this writer to get up to speed and intimately familar with the game in a matter of 2-3 days. I tried to get my friends into this back when I joined in when the axons when the axons went hot, but they didn't really take it seriously. It took me a week to really get up to speed with the game, find out where it was all being discussed etc. So imagine trying to do that at this point in the game?

At least NOW we can get some respectiability for all this madness! (this will be fun to show at work that has already termed it Nerdfest
And there goes the 2 specs, it IS Beast 2 and the end of the game...halo2 time....ah, but tis still fun.
Am most interesting comparison to Casablanca as a stepping off point....come to think of it, didnt James Cameron's Titanic also work the same tactic?

Thing is, who was his source in saying the game ends on the day of the Halo2 release??
Puppetmasters? I think not.

Can anyone do vid capture from a tape of the Arizona debate they might have? I would love to see the CNN scene with this poster in it!
EDIT: Found the image. Melissa posted it as Myriad_wise_men on the 404 page!

Just thought I'd point out that Wired fixed one of the two major errors - they've since changed the line about Weephun and Melissa to read:
Quote:
...who became notorious to many of the game's players for figuring out where the Sleeping Princess, one of the characters, was hiding and then turning her in...
Nice to see they're at least paying attention to feedback, although they haven't fixed the hurricane one

Feedback to fix that one came directly from me emailing him. What was the problem with the hurricane one?

Yah, he asked me ~"what are you going to do when this is all over?" and my reply was ~ that it was probably going to end on Nov 9th with Halo2 coming out. (which is true for me regardless as I'm sure Halo2 will suck away all my time .... oh what an agony of prioritization that will be if this ARG isn't over by then)
I have no idea if he got any confirmation of that from the PMs.

Well, Mine was during Frances, not Ivan....but with so many hurricanes that went through, I'm starting to lose track of when each hurricane hit. But my axon was answered as the major feeder bands were hitting, and it was not a plesant experience.
I can't think of any other hurricane that hit on a tuesday, though...Jeanne?

As far as the rumor that it is ending on November 9th goes, just think about it. We have two more recipe pages (recipe7 that will be on the 26, and recipe8 on November 2), and possibly the contact me page. I think we will not have to use the contact me page, because that has been controlled by SP for a while now. I think our part in it will end on November 2nd (or possibly the 5th, if we have any more SP friday puzzles like we've had), but there might be something more that is non-interactive on the 9th. Are any of us going to want to give up playing Halo 2 to go out and answer phones? There may be some conclusion on the 9th, but it most likely won't be more axons. Whether the reporter got the rumor just from weephun, or the PMs, I don't know, but I would say he was right.
