Dish. Now. All right, who was the brave (or insane, I admit I have trouble telling the difference) soul who went out in the hurricane to answer the phone?

Sweet! Nice to finally see a report that doesn't just write this off as marketing but tries to understand the game and the players.
Also enjoyed the sneak peek into the PMs life.
It's the top story at wired.com today and interestingly enough there's also a story about AIs a little further down.
I let him know about the Melissa correction, we'll see if it gets changed or not.

article What a fascinating quote I got (not precisely correct either, but he was scribbing and bibbling rather than recording the call).
He didn't use my online name, as I requested, but that's all right. Connect my avatar to the article and you can find me.
I just noticed...the picture on the lead-in to the article is one I took! Where's my credit?!

waking up Ok, I am drinking my tea and trying to wake up and now I notice the photos IN the article and that you can enlarge them and that not only is the group picture I took there, but the one of me too (the one Melissa posted). Now not only do visitors of the 404 page have to avert their eyes, but so does anyone reading the wired article and opening that picture. And when I say there is a need to avert one's eyes, I do not mean because of Ceantari, Mazian, and Frankie2tone in the group picture!
P.S. I got credit for there, so I take back my razz from the previous post.

Daniel (the reported) just corrected the mistakes on the article that I pointed out. He's now got the SP getting captured and links to the rank_and_file images when talking about the "strangers" we took pictures of to get the 250/250.
This guy seems to really be on the ball.

Another Little Problem I just sent him a comment about the article....I hope he reads it.
The link he has up for the coordinates goes directly to DarkForge's latest gzipped version of the recipe6 list.
I suggested he change that to just /axons/ so that newcomers can see the latest list and find the mirror in case the link from wired slows DarkForge's site down. Someone with his number might want to call him to let him know that, in case he doesn't check the site comments right away...

From the article:
"...So we headed out to the mall, found a pay phone and got (strangers) to stand around and salute (for photos). Here in Boise, we got 60-plus people to stand around the pay phone and salute."
weephun, rather than the rank_and_file image, shouldn't that photo link be the picture you are actually referring to with the 60-plus people standing around a pay phone and saluting?

Yes, but that picture is not up as of yet. Mad Cow did get a reply from his submission commending him and so we're hoping to see all of his pictures soon once the "Further Special Commendations" are finished.
I figured that was the best picture to link to as A) we were trying to fulfill the rank_and_file requirement when we were taking those pictures and B) it does appear that there are some pictures there of "strangers" standing in front of a payphone (vs actual ARG players).
As an aside note, just so we're all not disappointed, the submission was 60+ people total, not all in one picture.

This seems to have become the weephun and pita thread.
The Wired News reporter, Daniel, has now added my alias. Apparently, there was a battle with the editors about it. He said they didn't want to include it. I pointed out that weephun was in there, so I guess that convinced them that the world would not come to an end if hmrpita was too.

Ha! That article is fantastic.
"Dude, it's a hurricane. Put down the phone."
As if something as small as a hurricane would deter you lot.
