Like... why wouldn't big rubber gloves and a nice crowbar work on the coffin? And when he woke up in the graveyard, why didn't he go directly to the police and let them sort out the thing with the directions?

As far as busting open the coffin, he mentions in the comments that he's worried if the lid is electrified and giving him shocks, that completely busting into it might incur more intensive penalties...

I just assumed the lack of police was explained away by his obvious paranoia, BUT it seems the nature of his game is that he's super responsive to his commentators (albeit a little too interested in their OWN private lives...) and its a question worth asking the source.

(ie, you do it, I'm not gonna)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lastly, as far as knowledge on the mechanics of his gadget (and the electricity not being as believable), I'd like to point out that I've had similar experiences with other series, recognizing effects, noticing small visual inconsistencies that become 'tells', and for the most part viewers are pretty aware when something is taxing the suspension of disbelief, best to just leave that one alone.

glad to welcome you into the "i like it most of the way" encampment!

Even though our sweet, loving, and kind protagonist has gotten a coffin full of tapes, we haven't heard tape 1# yet. Curious.

It continues to bother me that he isn't going to the cops about this.

In MH and TT most of the manifestations are of the sort which don't really leave behind enough evidence to bother the cops with. (And I think in TT Noah actually has called the cops and they've decided he's a nuisance.) In EMH they actually do call in the cops but all the evidence disappears so they're no longer trusted. But here, this guy has enough stuff on tape (like footage of him being kidnapped ON THE KIDNAPPER'S YOUTUBE) to get the cops to take him seriously and he's not taking the obvious step.

I mean, the two choices thing is cool, but both of the choices are clearly stupidly dangerous and there's still no good reason for him to co-operate beyond the implied threat of more harassment (as though it's just going to stop when he visits one of those locations or something - yeah, right). There's no reason not to just go to the cops and let them search both locations.

As soon as he tells them of a 9-foot, faceless abomination...

He doesn't need to go into that much detail.

I don't seriously expect anything to come of him going to the cops, of course, it wouldn't be much of a story then, but there needs to be some reason why they can't help him. Especially when there seem to have been very human agents involved in this situations - humans who presumably can be arrested and interrogated - it's frustrating that the series doesn't acknowledge the possibility of going to the police, even to close it off. All it would take would be a single line about him going to the police but them laughing it off and sending him away and that'll be enough. Or even some bullshit line about how he was considering going to the police but he kind of wants to sort this thing out himself because there's stuff he wants to do to Helper that the police would get in the way of.

It's the fact that he isn't even considering the option of going to the cops, even to the extent of thinking about it and then rejecting it, which is currently hurting suspension of disbelief for me.

again, did you ask him in the comments why he hasn't gone to the authorities? I'm sure there's an explanation, and if it's damaging your suspension of disbelief, it's worth asking him.
he answers.
it's really not been a problem for me
A- because he seems paranoid as crap, and therefore is not likely to be logical in all of the things all of the time
B- because I don't trust cops any farther than I can throw them, so I don't know I would go either

Then...perhaps there is a reason he's not telling you? Usually he's very good about responding to things like that.

Eh, either way, doesn't bother me much. Other series often sort of brush the cops under a rug with an awkward excuse as to why they're not helping. That often takes me out of the game more than anything else.

So I voted house. So is this where we're finally going to run into Masky? Roivas?

Still, I'm also curious about what's in those woods, and how much this is going to piss helper off. What's he gonna come after caught with next? A whole fucking wall?

The wall is going to help caught get helper, because helper kidnapped the wall's son.

This is all assuming that our protagonist is a good person who would be helped by the cops, come to think of it we don't really know anything about caught. You bring up some interesting points but I find myself not looking at it as hurting continuity, but rather, it sparks the question what reasons would he have for NOT involving the authorities.. he has already lied to us before about how long he has been seeing SM perhaps he has something to hide.

looking at how this particular series has worked so far and how much communication seems to be a part of it, if he is not answering that question, there must be some reason for it.
