What Some People Call Fate

...I've read all three hints and I still can't figure it out.

(BIG spoilers)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The fractions, as far as I can tell, can't be common-denominator'd to 26. What's going on here?
[/spoiler]

Double check your math.

Also, remember to subtract one from the total on the "then" one before combining both probabilities.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
there is a common denominator and it should make sense.

I got it! I didn't realize you had to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Add all the numbers in the denominator
.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Add the values of the balls and they can be
13 39 0.5 1.5
13 0.5
52 26 2 1
52 104 2 4
26 39 1 1.5

Don't know what the probabilities are though,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ball of that color(s) or ball that is not that color OR number of the colored ball
????

What supposed to be the numerators?

I got
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
25% 40% 1in56 or about 1.78% 20% 16.67% 80% 75% 16.67% 66.67%

How do these become numerators?

"Numerators" are part of a fraction, so keep things in fractions when you find the probabilities. Don't use percentage/decimals. Or, if you know the denominator, just multiply your percentages by that (although you might have some rounding errors that way, which is why it's best to stick with fractions the whole time).

You need to perform one more step on the denominators.

yikes...

I'm in the same boat as HUH. I have the fractions, but can't figure out the last step.

I agree with the percentages (fractions):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1/4 2/5
1/56
1/5 1/6
4/5 3/4
1/6 2/3

and the conversion factors to make each denominator 26

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
2x 2/3x
2x
1/2x 1x
1/2x 1/4x
1/2x 2/3x

but do not see
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
how to combine them into numbers ranging from 1-26 either as n/26 where n is the letter or where doing the division results in numbers from 1-26

Some People Call Fate
where I'm stuck

So for initial probabilities I get

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1/4, 1/5, 1/35, 1/5, 1/6, 4/5, 3/4, 1/6 and 1/3

Is that right? I haven't had to do probability in about 20 years.

These are not the fractions you're looking for.

Consider the significance of the numbers on the spots in each group. And there is some significance.

What now

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Treating each group as the chance that you will draw the ball to the left of the slash from the group to the right of the slash gives the fractions
{1/4 2/5 1/56 1/5 1/6 4/5 3/4 1/6 2/3}
which nylund says to use
(which convert to the percentages HUH gave) {25% 40% 1in56 or about 1.78% 20% 16.67% 80% 75% 16.67% 66.67% }

The numbers on the balls in each group add to a multiple of 26 (except for 39 which is 3/2 of 26 & 13 which is 1/2 of 26)
The conversion factors to make 26 each of these denominators are given by Yeah Right:
0.5 1.5
0.5
2 1
2 4
1 1.5

so the factors to put each group fraction over 26 should be
2 2/3
2
1/2 1
1/2 1/4
1 2/3

This much I got on my own but no clew as to where to go from here
