Episode 4

I'm sure we're all in agreement that Episode 4 belongs between Episodes 6 and 7.

In my solution, at the end of episode 6, we're either on the 2 or the 5 line going northwest, and we've just passed Grand Army Plaza. Black Tom says (backwards): "Sometimes to follow the way, you must avoid the way you've known." Since the 2 line leads back to Columbus Circle, my interpretation is that we should be on the 5 line.

Now I admit I'm not too solid on the rest of this episode, but some of my observations are:

- Look at where Crothers stands when he comes onto the screen, it's not the same every time... in particular, I feel he is cleverly placed on the screen so that he covers up certain words. I conclude that it's the numbers (28, 41, 42, 43) that are more important, the rest is possibly a red herring.

- For 41, Crothers says "that didn't tell me anything", so we should ignore it. For 43, says "Stop That", so he objects to 43 as well, so we should ignore it.

- 28 and 42 are stops on the 5 line. He doesn't object at all to 42, which is where I think we should get off the subway.

- I'm not sure why he says "Now you've gone too far" for 28. It could be that he's just objecting to 28 being displayed (so we should ignore it). A more complex hypothesis is that everything in this episode is 'backwards': from Black Tom speaking backwards, to Crothers appearing upside down at the end. In that case, we can look at the subway stops in reverse, as if coming from the North. Going to the 28 st. stop would mean going past 42 st, which is 'going too far'.

Sorry to really belated add a comment, but I'm just now picking up this again. Don't know how much help I can be, but I'll see what I can do...

Maybe when he says "stop that" to 43 he's telling us to stop there? As in, get off the subway there.

EDIT: I know nothing at all about the NY subway. There is no stop for 43. So ignore that, haha.

 Episode 4 - The Hardest

From what I have discovered there is more then one part to this episode to decode and it is not easy.
Oh and Sarah you are on to something.

Episode 4
Episode 4

My take on episode 4 is the numbers shown are the 'Clue type order' the captain refers to in episode 1 about Black Toms clue.

So we have: Clue 41, 42, 28, 43. Meaning Black Toms clue 28 must be placed here. This would most likely be the flying along and blowing up the sun sequence if episode 2.

The clue list would then become:
-41
-42
-Mount Rushmore
-Earth
-Sun
-43

This could be bus route 41, change to route 42,
pass a location where there are 4 presidents,
something named World / large globe/(flushing Unisphere?),
Sun/Corona/supernova
back on route 43 (or 43rd ave).

Possible path:
Now route 41 goes from rockaway up to queens. starts close to marine parks references in ep 5. maybe ep 6 fills in the gap [backgrounds= beach cross-bay]
There are a few streets named after presidents near the Jamaica terminal. If you follow Main st north you cross 3 presidents streets (cant find a fourth reference)
Earth would be the Unisphere in flushing.
Area is called Corona.
43rd Ave leads west away from flushing, possibly back onto subway/lirr
