Alex, audio removed, and long shot theory Okay I've been thinking of this for a while. After marathoning Marble Hornets 3 separate times, I've decided to put my thoughts together.
This is my best theory out of what I've been working on.
Alex is a sociopath much like Dexter in the Darkly Dreaming Dexter series. Dead animals were left outside of Brian's house. Before killing humans, most sociopaths who murder, kill animals first.
Alex is never afraid of slenderman. Not even in entry 14. It is something he's used to.
He has a "Dark Passenger" or something inside of him that makes him need to kill others.
This Dark Passenger is Slenderman or The Operator.
Slenderman is not just a feeling though because others can see him and are affected by him. Slendy protects Alex, despite Alex not wanting to do harm and "give in" to slenderman.
Slenderman has not been seen doing anything harmful. The closest is the allusion to him hurting Alex in entry 14. Alex does the killing, Slendy cleans up.
To communicate with Slendy, who speaks to Alex in an unintelligibly slow or fast voice, Alex records him with the audio of a video cam. He then can manipulate the audio so he can understand Slendy's message. Slenderman, of course is a being of unknown power so we can assume that he can understand Alex just fine. Perhaps he chooses to make Alex struggle to understand him.
Alex tried to get away from his past of killing by moving away. This all comes back instantly when his dark passenger is awakened by seeing the camera in Amy's hands. Alex kills Amy there.
It's a long shot with some stronger parts than others but let me know what your take is on my theory. I apologize if it appears that Ive stolen parts of other peoples theories, I simply just dont know em all to check.
I have searched for the basis of what I said and havent found much so I hope this is a new perspective for everyone

Can't say much about the "Dark Messenger" thing. Seems to be just another way of saying that TO is in some way a part of Alex's troubled self, a manifestation of his guilt etc, which I consider plausible but we don't yet have much evidence towards it.
There's no real evidence for or against Alex fearing the Operator because the audio is removed in all encounters. On one hand, the fact that Alex removed the audio could mean that it puts blame on him, e.g. proves that he's in cahoots with TO. If he is, he's probably not afraid of him, since he's used to his appearance. On the other hand, multiple entries show him running away from TO.
Agree about Slendy not harming people. The blood in #14 looks like it all ran down from the same spot on his forehead, so I think it's his own blood from his own wound rather than the splattered blood of a victim, but that doesn't mean TO caused that wound. It wouldn't be his style.
Regarding the communication thing, I like that idea, but I'm not so sure if TO communicates at all. he doesn't in #43 (not sure about the number, it's the one where Alex and TO meet in the woods). That would also be a possible explanation as to why Alex kept seeking him and why he removed the audio.[/i]

Actually, dead animals were being left outside of Alex's house, and Brian was the one who told Tim that this was happening. Tim and Jay then speculated that this might have contributed to Alex's decision to leave town.

I would amend that statement to say that he isn't afraid of The Operator for very long . We have at least one Entry (Entry #10) which clearly shows Alex running into his house to get away from The Operator. We have several more Entries where The Operator approaches Alex and Alex nervously leaves the area (Entry #7, Entry #17) or flat out books it (Entry #13), and Entries in which he is seen searching his house at night and generally acting paranoid (Entry #11, Entry #3, Entry #9). Although he doesn't act in the extremely fearful manner of someone like, say, Jay, I think the observation that Alex's reactions towards The Operator changed over time is an important distinction to make.

To expand on my theory, I would say Alex runs away from TO simply because he doesnt want to kill. He put it behind him then Amy brought it back into his life.

my opinion is that your theory will be shot down because it makes for a boring plot

Haha maybe so. but is that the only problem you have with it? I'd like to get a new perception on it besides: I think Alex is TTA... why... I don't know cause it'd be cool.

What kind of counter-argument is that?

And then Sgt. Jay Doakes will pop out of nowhere while Alex is searching for his evil twin brother, Brian Kralie (AKA the Unhappiness Truck Killer) who is going to kill Jessica, who actually is his adopted sister, and say "Surprise mothafucka!"

Reading your theory except I think Amy got out. We could be left in the dark for this current season two final.
