I stopped by here to see if there was any news about this possible viral marketing site and was surprised that no thread has been started. Hope this is appropriate to post in this forum.

This is official "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" media. A recent photo of Trent Reznor from a Tumblr site connected with the film, www.mouth-taped-shut.com, has lead to this site: www.comesforthinthethaw.com

So far it seems to be nothing but music and a few movie stills. If you listen long enough, some sound effects and voices can be heard.

EDIT - Just noticed, to my surprised, that I've never posted before, though have been a member for 5 years, lol. Greetings all.

 		I saw that too and immediately thought ARG!
I went to the site and watched/listened to it, it went through a couple different images that the frost revealed and then obscured again and had some brief sounds from the movie.

I'll keep an eye on out out of curiousity, but at this point I think it's just a teaser site for the movie, nothing more.
(source code looks normal, no hints at anything else really, unless I've missed something?)

Trent Reznor did an arg for one of his albums so it's possible!

Nice find! I was suspicious of that grid on the Tumblr site but couldn't find anything otherwise unusual about it.

Any idea on how many images are on the comesforthinthethaw site? I notice even when I close out the page and go back, it loads back to where it was last left off.

 		Here's the response to that comment I made on the blog where Mr.Reznor was looking for people in various cities last month -

ETA- "Comes forth in the thaw" link is now on the tumblr page.

Every time I go to the frost image page it's a different string of pictures, I think there must be a whole bunch of them maybe set to randomly show?

Hi guys. I literally just found out what an ARG is yesterday. I still don't understand that much about it but I wanted to see if I could follow along with the posts in a forum, and I came upon this one. I guess was trying to see if I could recognize an ARG if I saw one, and I found something that I don't think has been mentioned here yet. Here goes.

(Disclaimer: I know nothing about computers, any sort of programming language, or anything other than clicking on things and seeing what happens.)

If you go to www.comesforthinthethaw.com, you can click on the words to launch another page, where it shows you seemingly nothing but ice. (This is where I start to not know what I'm doing). I'm using Google Chrome and I can right-click on the ice and hit "inspect elements." That launches a little box which I've never seen in any other browser, but it lets me click on something called "Resources."

In that tab are a couple things within a folder called "Images". From what I can tell there are photos layered under the photo of the ice. As you go through these the ice melts and we can see a picture of some fancy lookin' ladies in a car. It looks like they're in a parade, maybe around the 50's.

If you leave that box up long enough, another folder pops up called "Other." It has the following in it: http://www.comesforthinthethaw.com/ambients/clip

There appears to be multiple sound files that play if you refresh. I can't tell if I've heard them all or not, but this is what I got so far:

1. Someone washing their hands
2. Sounds a little like feet walking
3. Contains a conversation, which cuts out periodically to the sounds of a car driving. People are talking about "Trauma...look it up."
4. Distant footsteps, someone entering through an old door.
5. Subway.
6. Clothes in a dryer and a ticking clock?
7. Slow, quiet creaking of an old door


phew. Anyway, not sure if there is anything to all of this. It'd be awesome if this turned out to be something!

 		Wow another Trent Reznor related ARG, Republik's finding was great!! maybe the image will "defrost" as time pases??

 		Nice work Republik, but I'm afraid its nothing new. If you leave the window open that appears from clicking on the words, the images cycle through, thawing and freezing, and the sounds play at random times.

EDIT - Well... it seems the ice isn't thawing anymore after all...
