Staying motivated?
Sorry for making all these threads.

This is the last thread I'll be making, I promise. I have all the other bugs worked out.

So, I have the story planned and I have my team set up. That's not the problem. The problem is getting this thing approved. I went to the Campus Life- First Year dept with my pitch, a month-long scavenger hunt in real-time. And the Director loved it. I asked what I would need to do to get the scavenger-hunt part approved, and he said I would just need to ask each building manager individually, but they would understand and obviously say it was okay. He was very confident, and it helped my feelings about this project.
So, about a week later, I had free time to spend all day running around from building to building and getting e-mails and setting up face-to-face appointments. But none of them actually followed through on those appointments, so I went back and talked to the one who was able to talk face-to-face. She said that I would need to go to the campus PD because the outside of the buildings (where the clues will be taped, I'm not using classrooms or hallways because that's just asking for trouble) was their jurisdiction.
I set up a small presentation for the PD and he listened to it, then crushed my hopes with every word. "I'm sorry, but we can't sanction something like this. People will be worried about why everyone is gathered in groups around the walls and bushes and we'll be flooded with calls. They'd think you were doing something illegal. I'm sorry, but we can't sanction something like this."
I couldn't have been told about this before I spend months setting appointments, running from building manager to campus life center and back to building manager and trying to get it approved?
I had posters approved, looking for a PM team, but the campus office never got around to hanging them up for some reason they couldn't explain. It just vanished.

My PM team and I were throwing ideas around: Just have people hunt in pairs, don't draw attention. Maybe we could use the bulletin boards? No, that's obvious and harder to get approved then the outside of the building. I set up a meeting with the campus director a final time, but they changed their hours to right when I'm in class or studying, so I'm kind of at a loss.

I know it's just a game, but it's a game I've already put a lot of work into setting up and planning and have gotten a lot of student support, which is big for me because I'm a pretty bad introvert.

At this point, I'm willing to just make it underground. If the tell us to stop then we will, but I'm just so tired of jumping through all these hoops. I've already talked to people about it, and lot of people are really excited about this project, but... I'm just tired of dealing with all this complete BS. I understand that there are good reasons for it not being approved, I'm just tired of being told that all I have to do is x but it turns out that y and z also have to be done.
Should I make a last-ditch, see what I can tweak to get it approved? I am really wary about making it underground because I could get in serious trouble I'm sure... Haven't seen the rules about running unsanctioned clubs yet.

I guess I'm just asking... how do you do it? How do you guys not give up? Or do you give up? Should I give up?

I don't understand why the campus PD's approval would be needed for a scavenger hunt unless you're going to be doing something that looks like it could be illegal. I mean, come on now. Have they really never had a scavenger hunt before?

But since your approvers insisted - why not make the scavenger hunt nature more obvious and apparent? Ask your players to name their teams and give themselves some kind of sign or t-shirt to represent themselves on day 1 of the hunt. This will also give you extra attention.

As for the PM team... I don't have great advice here, just reassurance that it's not just you.
