The 7R0N watch is finally available if anyone cares.

About a year late, this thing was WILDLY anticipated in the two months leading up to the release of Tron Legacy. Well, it's finally available...

purchases under $100 are subject to a $20 sipping fee.
you may consider buying 2 while they are still on sale. 2 for $198 is better than 1 for $119 now or $139 later... maybe.

either way, use the code: DEMO to get $8 off

Am I the only one who was dissapoined when the email showed up for it? I know they have to make it work in reality but it lost all the sleakness that made it so appealing.

its certainly not the tron concept watch we loved... and it is a bit expensive for 34 leds...

im tossed between being excited that the watch doesnt have to have its battery replaced often and that it has to be charged by a computer. i mean if i have to hook it up to my computer, put a SD slot in it.

Yeah, the USB part is also kind of a dealbreaker with their watches. I wonder how long they last if you want to keep it on since the month lifespan only is for when it's not lit up).

The price itself isn't so bad since we are paying japanese prices, but it doesn't really feel like a tron watch anymore either.

I am...miffed that after registering to be notified, voting on it, etc. I never received an e-mail about availability. And I have no interest in the white one. I would want either a blue or a red one. Oh well.

had it not been for render info, i wouldn't have know about them either. i really wanted an orange version. i'm wondering if they couldn't have used multi-colored leds. you know like the RBG's they use in big screens to allow the 'user' to select his color on the fly.

Just as an FYI for everyone, I ordered one of each the day it came out, and they shipped it to me within 3 days!

The watch has a unique band in that you have to literally CUT it to size, so if you cut it too small, you need to get a new band. I was expecting the "light" to go all around the band, but I interpreted the concept differently than Tokyoflash. It's just an 'L' on each side of the watch face and it's lit in a way to show the minutes.

The light is bright, and even at "room temperature", the time is readable and it has a unique neon glow. I actually prefer the white one for two reasons. Main one is it's a little brighter than the blue one, and the other reason is that Sam was white and black in Legacy, not blue and black. Tron was red most of Legacy, and White and Blue in the original. The watch disc looks exactly like the Legacy disc, so the white watch really matches Legacy, rather than the original. For that reason, I just feel white is a better fit if you want to associate the watch with Tron.

For those that ask, outside the time is readable unless the sun is shining directly on the face of the watch. And even then, you can read the time with effort. It takes a while to get used to reading the time because to the casual observer, it looks like the disc is lit all the way around. You have to know what you are looking for to read the time. You'll understand if you see the watch.

I've only charged it once so far when I received it. It's been about a week and it's still working. I pretty much "turn it off" (two button presses) when I am not wearing it. When I wear it casually, I have it blink once every five minutes (or not at all), and when I really geek out, I have it "pulse". When you "have it off", you can display the time (light it up) with a single button press, or put on an animation with two button presses. Don't get excited, the "animation" is just a pulse frequency, eg. continous, 30 secs, or 5 minutes.

The brightness of the watch definitely puts it in the "geeky neon" category, so if you wear a blinking shirt or shoes, this watch fits right in. If you are going to a nice restaurant, or a busines meeting, this probably isn't the watch to wear unless you are trying to make some kind of statement.

I actually thought $99 was a bargain. I am giving one as a christmas gift. Since the watch is all black and the band is unique, it doesn't look like a cheap plastic watch AT ALL. Besides Tron fans, it's a worthwhile watch if you want something unique, and you like neon.
