I made a playlist of all Marblehornets videos in order last night. Today I was thinking about the whole "4 is death" phenomenon and how MH deals with it as part of the mythos. So I casually looked at the video order to find significant 4s.

The 40th video in the MH series is TTA's Warning, one of his scariest in my opinion. And it talks about Alex, and has implications about coming for Jay.

The 44th video is Entry 26. And, of course, we all know the 4's in that video. The Operator shows up at 4:04 on 4/4/10. Footage tears at the 4:00 mark, and at the 4:44 mark, Jay announces that the package has a return address (which he then seeks out), eventually resulting in the 7-month gap.

In fact, any video between #40 (warning) and #50 (Entry 32) seems to be some of the most tension and rising action we've gotten in the series.

The 4th video in the series seems unimportant (maybe they weren't planning that yet?), but the 14th has the Operator inside Alex's house, the 24th shows us THE house and has a disturbing video tear, the 34th calls Jay to the tower, the 54th has the rock-to-leg scene, the 64th introduces Hoody, the 74th has Jay making serious progress and Alex acting downright murderous after a direct encounter with the Operator (and is the only one where the number of the video and the number in order have the same digits).

This is in addition to the 4s in the actual entry numbering that are obviously significant. And then that got me thinking about how in Western culture, 4 is hardly significant. But 13 is scary.

13th video in the series is TTA's second video, with missing audio from the Operator stalking Alex. Entry #13 has Alex seeming to seek the Operator at the building that OOG is the home of the basement. 26th video begins to make heavy implications about Tim, and has the Operator in the background for a long time. 39th video has Jay in the evil basement. Entry #26 (13x2) at 1:13, the mysterious text is shown, at 3:13, we see the face of the Operator's next victim, 4:13 is the actual appearance of the Operator. 52nd video shows the site of the return address that was mentioned in #26. #39 (13x3) shows TTA looking in on Jay as he sleeps, and sets up a meeting at Rosswood. 65th (13x5) video (Indicator) has the operator key in the baby's eye. The 31st video (13 inverted) is Return, where the Operator finds Jay, or at least so it would seem. Entry #31 is the first time we see Rosswood and aside from noentry.

And this whole thing makes me realize how artfully crafted this series is. And how amazingly scared we should all be for what awaits us tonight. #52 is coming. 52 is 4x13. All of the numbers in the series have been building to tonight's event.
