Alex is dead so Tim's all successful walking around like everything's fine. That gunshot was Masked Tim killing Alex. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Alex really was dead and Season 3 was about Jay, Jessica (on rare occasion) and totheark working together to get rid of The Operator.
