Alex with a gun reminds me of the bullet casing from way back in Entry #16. Does this have a connection with it? Maybe Alex shot someone and emptied their blood out in the sink.

He finally tried to do something to stop the Operator! Very Happy

And he cared about saving Jessica more than himself. D'aww.

A heartwarming moment for such a dark series. I like the Jay/Jessica angle, even if it's not romantic, it's good to see him have someone to care for after so much time alone. Crying or Very sad

Here's hoping that Jay gets a happy ending, complete with the girl.

I think the Season 1 bullet casing points to the "Alex had it all along" theory.

Oh, so it's literally a Chekhov's Gun. That's a great explanation.

So, Jay tackles The Operator, The Operator... [bitchslaps?] Jay [something happens, I can't tell what it is.] And Jay ends up on the floor, I get that much. So, that's how he lost his memories, most likely.

But how did he end up on top of the bed. With the TV on. And the computer playing the funky heartbeat/alarm. And he had his brown jacket on when he woke up, right? I'mma have to go back and watch 27...

Troy said everyone's fates would be revealed in Season 3.

I can dream. Jay deserves happiness after all the crap and loneliness he's been though. :C

Nice indeed; that bullet casing might even be from "another loose end" that Alex tied up years ago. Perhaps Sarah?

That's exactly what I was thinking. The blood in the sink supports that he could've killed someone.

I really love this tragic storyline of Alex: from innocent happy film student to man driven insane to the point where he kills his friends. The series has become less about the Operator, and more on the downfall of who used to be our protagonist: Alex.

And until then, UF shall go on pretending Brian's still alive.

So, Jay says in the beginning that Alex never really cared about Marble Hornets. True? Or Jay making possibly faulty assumptions again?

Dude. Was the film project ever that appealing?

I've written a full summary/analysis/reaction/review of Entry #52.

It's sorta messy and unorganized, but oh well.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Entry 52 Review/Reaction

Too lazy to think of an introduction to this, so let's just cut to the chase.

The Entry opens with Jay in his car, talking to the camera like he did at the beginning of the seven months. We learn from this that he watched the 56-42 prior to this. Cool how Jay actually mentions the name "Marble Hornets" when he was talking about Alex's motives. It's been a while since we've heard it said in-universe.

Jay talks a lot about his suspicions with following Alex into the woods once again, which almost seems like something that would purposely mislead the audience into thinking Alex is gonna try to kill them. Then Jay says that he'll do whatever it takes to get Jessica out safely, and that it's his "confession." This seems like a hint that Jay might do something bad.

Then we open at the park. We see Jessica for the first time in the seven months. Alex gets out. The three of them march onwards into the woods. (Three non-TTA people in an Entry... all at the same time!) Then, when they begin walking down the path, things seem eerily similar to the last time they did this. Alex refuses to tell Jay what he's gonna show them, and someone notices footsteps coming from behind.

Also, Jessica's kinda hot.

Then we get to an abandoned barn-type building. Why haven't we seen this before? It would've been nice if they at least showed us the place where Jay/Alex stopped at last time, so that we could assume that this barn place is like behind it or something. No biggie I guess.

Alex leads them up a stairs and tells them that the answers are "over there". Oh crap, what are we going to see? And then they all start yelling and Alex is pointing a gun at them. Initially, I was a bit confused as to what was going on because all three of them were yelling at once and I couldn't tell what anyone was saying (realistic, at least!). But it turns out that Alex just led them there to kill them. I'm a bit disappointed that there weren't any answers in store for us. We all knew Alex was evil. What a twist.

But on subsequent rewatching/relistening, I really liked Alex's little speech. We learn that Alex is not only pissed at Jay for stalking him all this time, but for "sharing [the tapes] with the world." This is the first in-entry reference to Jay's YouTube account that we've ever had.

And then Masky curiously creeps behind Alex and grabs him. They get into a little brawl while Jay and Jessica escape, and we hear a gun shot.

Who got shot, if either of them? Maybe the bullet casing travelled back in time and ended up in Brian's house. I hope so. If not, we still have an idea on how the bullet casing ended up there, given that one character is now confirmed to own a gun.

I was kinda disappointed that we didn't see Hoody though. And that Jay didn't get to kick Alex's ass himself. But yay for Masky. We love you!

So then Jay and Jessica are back at the parking lot, and I start to wonder where the Entry #29 footage fits in.

Jessica leaves. Jay reaches through Alex's ajar window and opens the door to get to the camera and hard drive. (When Troy posted the pre-release shot of Alex's car, I so called this).

Anyway, we open up at the hotel parking lot and we're essentially given a little recap of the safe, the password, the tapes, and the hard drive.

Dunno why Jay hides Alex's satchel in his trunk though. I wonder if there's more to that than we are let on. Maybe TTA has like a tracking bug in there or something.

Jessica screams. Slendy teleports into their rooms and fucks with em. Awesome. Jay tackles him like a hero!

Then Jay is unconscious until the next day. He explains how the chest cam stopped recording until he woke up in Entry #27. But wait, how did the footage of him tackling Slendy end up in the safe? It didn't. It couldn't have. It must have stayed on the chest cam the entire time and he never checked it for some dumb reason. Plot hole!

I'm thinking that the Entry #29 footage took place during his unconsciousness though. He must've been teleported or sleepwalked/drove to Rosswood early on or something. Unless that was Alex shooting the footage. But then how did "noentry" end up on Jay's computer? Hmmmm. Our best guess is that Jay shot it, returned to the hotel, put it on his computer, and renamed it "noentry."

Cut to a good ol' driving shot to signify another season finale. Yay for consistency.

White text talking about Alex was bad all along, blah blah, stuff we've known and been speculating about forever. I kinda wish we had some new twist that he'd be talking about. Oh well.

And then Jay returns to Rosswood's town and we see footage of Tim strolling downtown like nothing's ever happened. Neat little twist here, but nothing particularly shocking.

Also, I'm very happy to see Tim not limping anymore. I hope Jay gets to team up with "sane Tim" next season.

So, yep. Great entry on it's own, but I feel like I expected more coming from the finale. We knew Alex was bad and that Tim has good intentions. We still don't know hardly anything about totheark. In the place of answers, we got a lot of ties to the first season, which is good in it's own way. (Alex talked a lot about Brian, the old tapes, etc.) No shockers about Jessica, nothing special about the safe in her room, no direct ties to Entry #29 or why Beardy's body reappeared. Nothing about why Slendy caused memory loss or why exactly Slendy ended up in the hotel room in the first place, when he's never actually gone after Jay before.

I guess what I expected from the end of the second act was that Jay would acquire "the knowledge" needed to do whatever needs to be done, and that he would go about using said knowledge in the third and final act to vanquish the bad guys or whatever. I guess not? And it's not like Marble Hornets is that kind of story anyway, and sometimes I feel like a derp for expecting that kind of story.

Still a fun, exciting finale in many ways and I look forward to seeing where this goes next season.

P.S: Do everyone a favor and please don't quote this entire post.

Yay for giant spoiler blocks.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When I saw the new entry was up, I squee'd. Then I squee'd again whrn I saw that it was a long one, which usually means payoff. And fuck yeah, I was right.

I can't tell you how happy I was that Jay finally decided to take a proactive (though not necessarily successful) approach to the Operator. I mean, running away sure as hell doesn't work, so why not try an epic lunge? Though maybe the right approach is to offer TO some cookies, I don't know. I was also pleased that Jay did not alert Alex to Masky sidling up to him like that. Though there was a bit of suspense waiting to see what Masky was going to do. There was also a moment where Alex leads them upstairs to "see" and I was like HOLY SHIT SLENDY IS GOING TO BE UP THERE HAVING A TEA PARTY OMG.

I noticed Alex JUST HAPPENING to leave his car window open, too. I'm slightly neurotic about closing my car windows, so I spotted this immediately.

And the typos were a bit distracting. Though I suppose you could make the argument that Jay is stressed out and not checking his spelling. Still, from an OOG perspective, it's not professional.
