My guess is radiation. Dr Corenthal found that black fabric outside Milo's house, and he wrote that just holding it made him feel sick. Slendy gives off some kind of radiation, which is probably what's messing with the cameras.

Could this be a play on words. I've thought for a while that the vessel might be Mary Asher. Surely the easiest way to orchestrate someones life is to give birth to them in the first place and then manipulate them growing up.

This is starting to get a decidedly Killer BOB feeling about it...

 		I'm guessing that the woman in the image is Mary, but I could be wrong.

Also, after reading some recent answers about the event and Sebastian, I think Sebastian might be that Nazi soldier Karl ran into from his story. The event happened in WWII, Karl and him met once, and Karl got the journal from him.
