"Fuuuuck that!" was my knee-jerk reaction to the last few moments of the latest entry.

Seriously, though, fantastic stuff. The Dick Tracy Rogues' Gallery shot of the various members of the collective - of which the Observer has been revealed to be only one - was smashing, and I am again reminded of the Cenobites and Clive Barker's Hellraiser. Doing this kind of multiple monster cabal thing is, again, something no one else has done before in this genre and something TT is striking out on for itself. They also summon up haunting, mindbending visuals which I have to wonder about - do they come out of pre-planning, or do the ideas strike sometimes in front of an editing console? I know that's how some stuff came to me when I did abstract post work - in process. But again, it's something where Nimbus has clearly planned for certain shots. Like the hand, with each finger sprouting tendrils.

The close-ups of Noah in the darkness, of course, reminded me of German expressionism and those silent classics, like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. His role here is not dissimilar to the victimized hero of that film, or the man in Carl Theodor Dreyer's Vampyr, which more and more of the Observer material reminds me a lot of. And all the stuff with the slumbering, helpless, 'taken' Noah still conjures up the same disturbing, vaguely psychosexual stuff that has run through all Slondorseries since Marble Hornets - young people, mostly male, being violated, manipulated, etc. by an "other." We make jokes about Noah being taken "forcefully" but there's a reason that shit keeps cropping up.

I couldn't place the shot that was apparently there to match up with the mention of EverymanHYBRID ("those boys will not save you"), with a crowd running up some stairs - is that new, or is it from an existing EMH video? I also don't recall if that was Milo we saw on the boardwalk, or someone else. Liam? Anyone?

The most chilling shots for me, though, were of the Nazi rallies, and I think of Noah's childhood home, burning. Unless that was some other house. Too few series have picked up on the innate cultural and historical slant in Slender Man's most commonly used point of Earth origin (Germany), but the way TT uses it has always resonated and had a lot of authenticity for me.

Now what? Does Noah have footage of his incident at his home, and anything of his call from Mary? I guess we'll see.

chilling, as always. not sure what noah's reason would be to not go to the boardwalk now. he's gotta know he's pretty much not safe anywhere, and if they REALLY wanted him they don't have to use the boardwalk to get him.

Yeah, I think Liam is the vessel too, and I thought he was the guy/kid on the boardwalk before. Now, too. I just wanted to be sure.

Boardwalk Guy still looks like Milo to me. I'm guessing he's the "old friend", while the vessel could very well be Liam.

The Observer videos absolutely terrify me, so I'm gonna wait until tomorrow to watch this one in full. I did skip through it a bit and it looks outstanding. The best one yet, probably. This series is absolutely great at keeping me in suspense.
