I'd say they're all SPARTAN IIs. Jersey's description of what Yasmine underwent matches Master Chief John 117's experience. So they're all the same program. To be called SPARTAN III, or SPARTAN 2.1, there would have to be a significant different in the enhancements or the training.

Listing it like that briefly reminded me of the id, the ego, and the superego.

Wouldn't 'Spartan 2.1' be like saying that they're biological sons/daughters of the Spartan 2.0?
Also, on top, Bungie doesn't want to make a movie revolving around the Halo-verse. So no more expansions in that field. The game taking place on Earth (and other Halo installations) sounds like a resolutions to the Halo-verse since that the battles to end all battles. So there's the conclusion. And I truly doubt there'd be any more novels branching from the stories either. With all that said, all of these "loose ends" will be resolved either by the end of this ARG or by the end of the single-player campaign of Halo 2.
I am pretty definite to what Bungie is going for: to preserve the Halo-verse before it rots in capitalism.
So all that talk of Ackerson, S-III, other Spartans, Top Secret Covenant Aliens, Melissa and her id,ego, superego, the Apocalypso... all of this will be revealed within the two games (ILB and Halo 2). It's just: "how soon?" and "in what order?"

I didn't take "One-point-one" to be formal nomenclature, but instead an in-joke by the initial SPARTANs in James and Gilly's group. I don't think that there is a formal taxonomy for SPARTAN versions, except to say that the augmentations undergone by the SPARTAN-IIs were far more drastic than those of the SPARTAN-Is.
I think we're free to call them whatever we want.
-- Steve cautions you to remember that James James was biased against the SPARTAN-IIs, and that despite his statement in the earlier audio clips the "Twos" are still human. (Albeit highly abnormal ones, now.)

For all we know, the whole "Spartan 1.1" saying could just be an in-joke between the surviving Spartans. I guess since they figured they were the first and the legendary cyborgs were the second (i.e. II), that any kids the "one point oh's" have must be 1.1's.

I don't know... I wouldn't want to laugh in front of Gillie or Gladice.
And this is about futuristic naval/military operations and computers/technolgy where edition/version numbers do exist.
For all they care, we're labelled as "civies" to them.

As far as I know, Spartan Is were just "improved humans" (drugs, genetics, but no cybernetics) while the Spartan IIs were actual cyborgs
and dont forget the ever elusive connection to marathon and their "Mark IVs" which may or may not be spartans

Kind of reminds me of that as well. The Queen = Superego, Sleeping Princess = Id and Durga = Ego. But I am not sure how exactly they work with that. The Queen is the only one that is obvious in what it is. The rest, not so much.
One thing I was thinking is that the only AI that seems to insane is The Queen. I think in many ways she has every reason to be somewhat crazy. She's had her memories ripped from her, and she knew what was happening while it happened. Plus she is in a strange place and a strange time. The girl has been through a lot and the Flea hasn't helped matters at all with it's manipulations. She's had it rough.
I think eventually we'll have to figure out a way to fix Melissa and make her whole again. I definitely think each splinter of Melissa is a portion of her personality.

I whole heartedly agree. I would hate to see done to Halo what they are doing to the Evangelion series. (Full length live-action movie almost 10 years after first airing of the series). Leave it alone ADV!
I apologize in advance for an thread-jacking that may occur

The Mjolnir Mk. IV Marine that you (most likely) play as in the Marathon games is probably unrelated to the Spartans. The evidence that connects the two series is tentative at best. There's a terminal in Marathon that talks about a special type of cyborg called a "Battleroid" (or something to that extent), and that's probably the origin of where the Marathon marine comes from.

Apologies for off-topic, but I do not see Bungie ever going the way of ADV. Evangelion was good, but sheesh, how many times can we change/rehash and spit back out in hopes that die hard fans will shell out more for every remaster. grrrr

Did I miss something, or are we all kind of jumping to conclusions in that Yasmine was taken for Spartan training? What says she wasn't just taken to create Smart-AIs off of here mental imprint?
Correct me if I missed something.

I have for a month or more belived that Yasmine was either taken to become a Spartan II or what I am more likely to subscribe to is that she was taken for the specific purpose of training and modifying a brain to become the best AI possable. A young brain is still developing, its possable that they manipulated its development to be more robust and survive the AI creation process better. Also Yasmine would be trained and preped for the day when she becomes an AI, or just stuck in a tank waiting to turned. Either way i think with Melissa/SP/Durga, we are seeing not the results of a failed Spartan II but of a succesful AI 2.0 and nothing to do at all with a Spartan III program

Sorry Vector.
Listen to she_died and another_name from last week. Listen to Durga/Yasmine respond to Jerseys talking.
